Will trade this A1200 for an A600
« on: March 09, 2003, 11:40:59 AM »
Don't ask. I'm just *dreaming* about an A600.

This 1200 is a Commodore original, with KS3.0.

BTW, would fitting a Blizzard4 (030@50) that's only designed for A12K, in a 600 be very difficult ? I mean, this is basically the same architecture (32Bits) huh ?

B00m.

http://www.ck-infosysteme.de/A600/index.htm

I'm baffled.  Those two guys are my gods.

See, I became strangely inclined towards the A600 recently.
I, as many, had always considered this machine the lamest Amiga offering, ever since I saw it in my local FNAC (sort of Dixons in France, Books and records, and the usual latest electronic goodies, sold by total dumbs).

Now time has passed, and, heck, I want a 030@50Mzh-based computer in an A600, because its small and I can carry it everywhere to both remotely kick asses at SBall2, and edit my image files on the go.

The only problem is the PSU... Damn, how are laptop PSUs made ? I mean, THIS is the solution, as the battery also acts as a small but efficient Electric surge protector ! ####, I just remember that you still need that damn transfo box...

I *will* find it out.

As for my 1200, I just discovered that it's, well, not in good shape. See, it's been resting in a dark cave, where we played mucic, and used the 1200 to sychronize video to it. (And secure my domination @ SBall2)
We made some crazy parties here. With the 1200 literally being hitted on by everyone while it was displaying our demos and stuff. Those were...
Anyway.

The thing is, at that time I falled in love (with a real flesh&bones girl) and since it was the first time, I went a little... You know, stupid.
And huh, completely forgot the A1200 in the cave. Poor bastard, sometimes in this place moisture was *pouring* from the ceiling !!

It stayed here one full year, until my friend the keyboard player of the band, casually told me during a phone call "oh BTW xacc, are'nt you bothered with the idea of your once beloved Amiga standing in this ####hole all this time ?"

WHAT ?? I reached for the closet where i thought the Miggy was (I know, I know), and yes, my friend was right, I *forgot* my A1200 !

This is a sad story. Don't bother to flame me, my friends and relatives already did. Imagine them "you did *what* with the machine that ruled our parties" ? And so on.

Now for the good news, it seems that, in fact, only the Floppy and the HD are dead.

Well, I think I'm gonna setup a web page on my webserver about this sad story, with photos and stuff. Kids have to know. So maybe after confessing, my penitence will be gentler (I really doubt it)

As you can see in my last post, I was a little too fast.

In fact, I did not remember that A600 don't have AGA ! Arghh ! This is the *only* drawback ! But its big. It would prevent me from playing ABreed2, so it's a no-go.

I'm sorry ; rest consoled because when you'll see the pics of the machine we were talking about, you'll cry. Never saw a 1200 in such a poor state.

I'm still considering the fitting of a proper AGA 030based Mobo in this VERY nice A600 case... Complete w/ PCMCIA...

I'm going to buy the case from vesalia, and start from there.

Sorry again
