If you need to use wikipedia, just disable javascript. There's some onload handler that kicks in after the content has been loaded and puts the blackout notification up. Or at least that was true this lunchtime.

I think maybe they are doing it because they think it's what people want. We had a similar thing in Australia about media censorship. The government bowing to public pressure to stop child porn (and other stuff) from the net proposed internet censorship. The result was a back lash of the government being accused of trying to oppress peoples lives (like China does). After the backlash they canceled the proposed changes because that's what people wanted. This just goes to show that sometimes you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Sheeesh... you just can't win

Here in Spain the law called "Sinde" is for the previous culture female minister, that besides is scripter for movies and "very friend" the artist, and the SGAE is an association of spanish authors that only get money of the people, but also reciently the director of this SGAE has been accused of appropriating of money of own SGAE, here the laws are for four people that use them to ear money and to be a new richmen.
