Title: Icaros macbook won't boot
Post by: rossi46 on February 26, 2015, 08:40:55 PM
Hi all. I've been running Linux Mint on my macbook for about 18 months and I downloaded the new Icaros live cd to try.

Apart from being unable to configure my wifi, everything else seems fine.

On the live cd, that is.

I elected to install Aros to my hd and chose the erase all option. It completes all its actions and asks for a reboot.

Then...nothing. I put the cd back in and we're back to the start.

Any ideas, please?

Hmmm, sounds like an IDE issue... Is the hard drive attached via IDE or SATA (or even PCI-E as the SSD is in my new MacBook Air)?

Part of the problem may be EFI files not being copied to HD by the installer. Maybe you need Bootcamp or something similar to enable booting from the standard GRUB2 installation.

Another option would be to reinstall Linux and try to boot AROS from whichever bootloader Linux uses.

The macbook drive is listed as IDE ata.device

I'm having another attempt just now.

Reinstalled another linux last night and attempted to install icaros on top of it.

Again, I chose the wipe all option and yet again the macbook won't boot.
