Anyone know of a suitable color/brand of spray paint that closely matches the A1200/4000 color? I have a yellowed C= 1084D2 case I want to repaint.
On the ST scene there has been talk of painting ST cases and we found a match from TESTORS model paint, turned out great...

JMHO, but I'd recommend vinyl dye.

I think you will achieve better results (factory vs. sparay-painted look), and if you don't like it, you can re-dye. (Also keep in mind that once you spray paint, you won't be able to dye in the future -- but you can always spray paint if the dye doesn't work out.)
Parasolinc.com carries high quality dyes, they can even color match if you're after perfection (bit pricey, though).

Krylon Fusion (for plastic) "Satin Almond" is as close to perfect as I think you will find the the stock A4000 color. Let it cure for the full week though, in a dust free area.
I have a finished A4000 bezel that I can send you a photo of if you like so you can see it. It looks like brand new now, and it was one of the worst cases of yellowing I have seen before I did it.

Yeah, if you're going to paint, go with the Krylon Fusion. My understanding is it's somewhat more like a vinyl dye than a traditional spray-paint.

I would use TAMIYA COLOR (it is a spray for RC modelling) made out of Polycarbonate special Acryl. well it is made for heavy duty treatment and it is a very easy way to get a exellent finish i have used my self on several ocations and it never fails ...Also i have a set amiga 1200 that was so badly yellowed. around four-six thin cotes white and like new again..

Yes post some pics!!!

What color did you use to paint it the first time?
-
Didn't paint it anything yet.

Krylon Satin Almost looked too beige, more of a A500 color. I got some Dove white or something and it seems close... Haven't sprayed the case yet. I might go black! Matte or Gloss?

I was thinking of Matt Blue (navy or midnight) myself but in Australia I don't think we have those brands.

I used Krylon Fusion "Dover White" on an A600 case and the outcome was astonishing... I almost cried :)
Although, a heavily yellowing may require a second pass.
-
Thats what I thought too. I ended up getting Dover White as it looked closer to the 1200/4000 color that Satin Almond, which looks closer to 500/2000 color.

Anyone ever notice the A4000 top metal casing is a darker shade of off white? Not the same color as the bezel. I wonder what paint I can find for painting that. I was going to paint it the dove white but that would not look original...

This was a really good "tutorial"!
I'm gonna do this to my duch a4k keyboard which are yellow as a smokers teeth!

The Yellowing adds personality though :-D

@TjLaZer
What color did you use at the end for your metal casing?
I also want to paint it and I am facing same dilemma...
-
nEcRo bUmP!
Revisiting this. I haven't painted the case yet, but the monitor turned out great! Dover white.

I used Halford's Renault Glacier White to respray my tower. I didn't have a good plastic sample so took in the Commodore A-1200 case badge. It was clean and won't have faded and I felt it a really good match.

Krylon Fusion will give excellent results. I use it on the Commodore 8 bit stuff and the Amiga cases. Always remember how important the prep work is! And paint with light, full strokes.
If you haven't used these new spray cans, practice before you commit.
