This will make others that are not part of the Amiga scene take Amiga OS 4.1 more seriously.

How so? I mean, what does this offer that OWB can't provide?
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

Name recondition and branding. Like it or hate it Firefox is one of the most used software applications in the world.

But this is not using the Firefox branding, but has it's own name called Timberwolf (and its own logotype?) that is even less known than OWB?

(BTW, What was the reason to this again, I can't remember? Why can't they simply call it Firefox and enjoy the brand recognition?)

Everyone knows it's Firefox.

:)

Indeed!

And in the same sense, and by the same logic about branding, everyone at those sites also knows that MorphOS is Amiga NG running on Mac HW! :)

Well, to comment the news item itself, I just want to say congratulations to the developers. Looks very good for an Alpha. :)

(Let's not compare it to the latest MorphOS OWB until it at least reach beta ;) )

@Derf

*MY* point in the discussion (about Timberwolf, *and not* about MorphOS) is solely about TRADE MARKS obviously, not about code.

Like:

"This will make others that are not part of the Amiga scene take Amiga OS 4.1 more seriously". (It's not called Firefox)

"How so?" (It's not called Firefox)

"Name recondition and branding. Like it or hate it Firefox is one of the most used software applications in the world." (It's not called Firefox)

"But this is not using the Firefox branding, but has it's own name called Timberwolf (and its own logotype?) that is even less known than OWB?" (It's not called Firefox)

"Everyone knows it's Firefox.
http://news.slashdot.org/story/10/06...aOS?art_pos=10
http://www.osnews.com/story/23431/Fi...olf_Goes_Alpha" (It's not called Firefox)

My question is: Why not call it Firefox?
