Heck, there's millions of people sharing their whole C drive with NetBEUI, and sharing their Outlook PST files with Kazaa. This is hardly a big concern (for now

For now I agree, but all the data sent may come back to haunt some and if we are complacent then our lifes will end up with no privacy at all.
It's an intrusion after all, would you put up with M$ monitoring your phone calls even if it was a benign conversation?
M$ would be the first to be filing a lawsuit if you were monitoring data on theyre servers..

The choices of COMPATIBLE OS's isnt exactly long if you want play games on your home computer(apologies for phrasing)
Just one more thought:- You payed for your plastic & metal speed machine that sits on your desktop. Why shouldnt you want decide what information you divulge from it..
