Amiga Roundtable podcasts?
« on: August 09, 2009, 03:35:27 AM »
Anyone know why they stopped and/or if there is any plan to restart them?

Even though I can't hear them, I do wish they would come back. It's nice when we have things like Amiga Round Table happening in the community. People seem to have lost hope this year.

I asked Rich Lawrence (he is @MobbyG on twitter), when the next episode would be out. This was back in May I think. His reply was just: "It's on hiatus".

I feel reluctant to ask why, because I think, if it is something he wanted to talk about, he had the chance to make a public statement, right? If you want to know what Rich is up to, just follow him on twitter. On the weekend he is hosting a radio show (so it´s definitely not his voice that stopped ART).

I contacted Rich somewhere in May/June. He said the that podcasts will be back at some point in future. In the meantime he also produced a video intro to ART:

I would really love to have the ART back. I always enjoyed listening to that podcast :)

@cecilia

And i missed that ep because i ended up partying that friday ( DOH! )

Art will probably be back sometime, call it an extended vacation. It'll be back when its back. Theres not really that much to talk about either, is there? (Except mos2.3) Perhaps when the über secret project hyperion is doing is announced, and or when we get the natami. Apart from that theres just the second amiga lawsuit to make fun of, and poking holes and speculate on the outcome of the first lawsuit. ( as it looks now amiga doesnt have enough money to buy a spring roll )

Long live Hyperion! :D

NB: Im also a bit disappointed, no conspiracy theories? Come'on guys ( and girl )! I was hoping for some far off theories about extortion and kidnapping

Thread:

Yeah - I imagine that we will return soon. It was fun doing the shows - and we got to talk with some interesting people like Cecilia along the way. We all go caught up in stuff outside of Amiga and it kinda of made the show take a back seat..and I think some of the shows suffered because we all couldn't support it as we used to.

The group of us still swap emails and stay in touch...maybe you all will see us back.

Thanks for the kind words too. Rich really worked hard on the shows and sometimes we really wondered who was listening.. becasue we didn't always get a lot of feedback. :) Its good to hear some of you miss us. Big Ups to you all.

Debaser kind of summed it up.

But personally, it was that I was spreading myself too thin to the point I was dreading Saturday mornings when we recorded the show.

I'm basically working 3 part time jobs to make ends meet and decided that enough was enough and have been on the hunt for a full time job while on this hiatus. But as the videos show, things are still happening on my end behind the scenes. There's even a buddy from work working on a new logo design for the studio. And some new show ideas and branching out into other thing besides retro stuff. The ultimate aim is to make AmiZed a full blow production house for internet video and audio.

So take heart, we WILL be back.

OK, gotta see a man about a Protoss Photon Cannon...

'nuff said.. Make Mine Marvel , Yadda Yadda...

I will be awesome when we can do the show again, hopefully soon. Sounds like we have been loved and missed.

Is it possible for some of you to give us some feedback about what you liked/didn't like about the show, specifically, if you can.

How do you think we could have improved? Live shows (warts and all - I think would be cool to do again)? Concept shows? Guest ideas? etc.

This thread and a few other mentions recently kinda got us back to maybe regrouping in the somewhat near future...

I hope we get some responses from you all.

I just e-mailed you some ideas.

For the love of all that is holy to you, PLEASE give us feedback! I ask at the end of every show and all I get is spam on increasing my man hood in the mail box.

I'm asking, NO, begging! PLEEEEASE?!

We would sacrafice goats at the end of each show if enough people wanted it... Well no, but maybe do a segment where we throw out various tips and tricks? Usesful apps?

To get any sort of feedback from the Amiga community is a miracle these days Rich, we (The Crypt Magazine) have been asking for feedback for the last 10 years now. Thats why we had to include other topics as there just isnt enough going on in the Amiga world to fill an issue. That being said, I do enjoy listening to your podcast. I`ve listened to everyone so far. My favourite ones have to be the guest appearances.

Keep up the good work m8.

Steve

In reply to the new post:

http://www.amigaz.org/2009/08/30/of-feeds-and-things/

I don't see a problem with having advertising in the show if it is mixed in nicelly. In such case I guess you would have to disable ability to download and seek in the stream or people will just skip the advertisements. On the other hand I would not pay for higher quality shows as I have no problem with low quality audio - what I would pay is the download of show without advertisement. :)

PS.
I'm still waiting for AROS episode :)
