Blizzard crystal question - flaky accelerator
« on: April 08, 2011, 08:55:57 PM »
My A1200 has been flaky for months. It would take several goes at cold booting before getting into Workbench and then it would freeze randomly until it had been on for an hour or two. I thought it was capacitor related but it turns out it was the crystal in my 1260. I replaced that and now it is rock solid. I thought (obviously wrongly) that a crystal either worked or it didn't. Anyway I'm very pleased and now I need to buy a spare 50mhz crystal. Looking on Amigakit's site they offer 8-pin DIL or 14-pin DIL. http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=45
What do I buy for a Blizzard 1260?

Thanks

OK thanks. I was unsure because it only has 4 pins on it but I guess its the size of the package that counts. Ooer missus!

I had the same issue with my Blizzard.  No boot when cold...would boot from disk. Solved the problem...installed a PiStorm.  Wow...anyone want a cheap Blizard?

Nothing wrong with the Classic Phase 5 accelerator Boards. Been around long enough and tried and tested. Prefer these than the newer hardware where the end consumer is always the one finding out the issues after paying a lot of money.
