>Alien Sette

Hello
In Asia, SATE or SAUTE is a popular dish / food from beef/chicken (prepared with sauce and bamboo skewer).

I guess if Alien REALLY land in Asia, someone will have a SATE party. :-)

The 1977 "WOW!" mysterious Signal on early SETI project remain unsolved.

In 1993, when US Gov't pull the plug on NASA Seti project:

Quoth Senator Bryan of Nevada: "The Great Martian Chase may finally come to an end. As of today millions have been spent and we have yet to bag a single little green fellow. Not a single Martian has said take me to your leader, and not a single flying saucer has applied for FAA approval."

There is a fake DORE report about SETI signal from Stars called "Pegasus".

Perhaps in the future SETI can use portable client programs (based on AmigaDE) or use a massive GRID of Peg. III boards connected with Infiniband.

Hi,
I did that.
But I don't show up
on the list.
Do I have to wait
for the next 'update'
before I can assist?

'New Scientist' magazine reports that a radio signal noticed on three occasions is the best candidate yet for an ET message.

There has been a rebuttal from the SETI-at-Home people themselves that this signal is in fact extremely unlikely to have an intelligent extraterrestial origin. See this link for a further explanation.

(Quite frankly, I find the SETI-business a load of crap. I wish people would do something sensible with their spare CPU-cycles, like analysing molecular structures of potential cures against scourges in the Third World. However, that is just my opinion. Happy computing, everyone.)

Just a dumb question (surprise, surprise from me):

If your PC happens to be the the one that finds THE signal when happily crunching away, do you think SETI would tell you?

Would you then be presented with an "I found ET" certificate?

I personally don't agree that SETI is a waste of time, but I do agree that we should ALL be using our spare CPU capacity to be doing something useful.  I think one of the Cancer charities has a SETI-like number cruncher - can anyone confirm?

With so many corporae mainframe systems etc seemingly doing little apart from housekeeping outside office hours it would be nice to see everyone running SETI-alike progs.  It's not as if the extra CPU time used is going to break the bank....

Hum,
just a bump up for Amiga SETI@Home , and a reminder that anyone can join (no aliens though)...
...

Hmmmmmm - last time I visited that page ther were no SETI clients available for Amiga - neither 68k, nor PPC!

Only way to participate seems to be to run SETI on a (X86-)PC.
But what's the point then joining the Amiga SETI project?
Or did I miss something?

Aside from that:

I wanted to join SETI at Amiga.org.
I was asked to enter my "Email address of your SETI@home account" and "Your SETI@home web site password".

But how can I already have an "SETI@home account" or an "SETI@home web site password", if I'm just about to join?

:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?

IMO it's a stupid idea to require data (only available when you already *ARE* a member) on an "Join" form ...

You join using the client itself. Then you can join the group.

If there still *IS* *NO* Amiga client - how can I use it to join any group?

I mean - I really would like to join, but to buy an x86PC just to run SETI appears to be a little bit too expensive to me...

Ironically, there would be no use to join unless you have an x86-machine. :-(
