Splashtop

An instant on OS that boots from USB Flash... it's about 11MB in size, comes with integreted web browser etc... It's based on Linux so have full modern OS features...

Makes you think, the place for the Amiga style OS has been pretty much filled.

Oh well... :-)

Well instead of the speed at which a computer/OS boots, I care about the speed at which a certain OS implements full memory protection  :hammer:

Shame you can only get it with certain motherboards. But then I suppose that's how they made it so fast. I would be very interested to try it out. I'm particularly interested to see how competent the integrated web browser is!

@motorollin
Regarding the browser, AFAIK it's based on Firefox, so it's likely to be very competent.

There have been reports of Splashtop seen running on an Asus EeePC, which would make perfect sense (Asus is a putting Splashtop on a number of its motherboards, and it fits in with the almost instant on nature of the EeePC in general). If I'm going to get any device with Splashtop it will be the EeePC (probably one of the new versions announced at CES 2008).
