How in the name of all that is holy, can Alcatel sue a company for using a technology that Alcatel do not own the rights to? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6388273.stm)

Just another chapter in the patent free-for-all, note that they talk about conversion rather than encoding - they probably have some bull patent on the books regarding on the fly conversion or something.

Wonder if Alcatel has a product that'll convert WMA and whether that's properly licensed. :-)
