Title: Extensible Firmware Interface on PPC, MIPS, SPARC
Post by: asian1 on January 13, 2006, 09:25:28 PM
Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) is a replacement for old PC BIOS. Beside X86, EFI also support other types of Intel CPU: Itanium, Xscale.
According to Intel, it is possible to port EFI to other types of non Intel CPU: PowerPC, SPARC, MIPS.
Unfortunately I cannot find any EFI for the above CPU.
Where is the EFI program for PowerPC, MIPS or SPARC machines? Who can create the EFI?
Thank's.

From Intel's Website:

"Source for new ELILO requires gcc3.x and binutils 2.11.90 or higher binaries already compiled Linux* kernel with EFI support for IA32 is now up on http://www.kernel.org/ in any of the Kernels starting from 2.6.1 or higher."
