Has anyone ever got any Warp3D stuff working with a Cybervision 64/3D card?
I know people will say "don't bother, the 3D capabilities of the CV64/3D is crap etc etc..blabla" :) but I just want to test it because "I can" ;)
I've tested the PPC & 68k Warp3D demos but all I get is crashes.
I can figure that I need almost all of my 4mb RTG mem free for Warp3D to work.

I think only 1MB of those 4MB is dedicated for 3D because there is a patch on Aminet so that the Amiga uses the 1MB left since there are so few 3D apps/games around that uses it.
You could try the Descent port if you want to find a use of the 3D part of the card :) , it is available in a special Virgie version.

Yes, it has worked fine on my CV3D... but there isn't enough memory for everything. But Descent worked fine, much better than with software render. And couple of other things too... but can't remember anymore as I've had Voodoo3 in use for years after it.

lol.... virge descent version! I had on my pc a Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 4MB pci (similar to the cv64/3d I guess) and played the "3d" descent version... lol it sucked big time, the only feature that was somewhat good, was the crappy billinear filtering of the textures... lol
ah, the memories...

Guess you dropped your WB resolution down to 320x256 8bit and no backdrop for it to work? :-D

Really? cool! :-D
Bought Descent some time ago but only got the '060 version working 100%..the PPC version had no sound :-(

AMIGAZ:
No, I had 1024x768x16bit resolution always.. didn't bother to drop wb resolution for anything :)

Really? thought Warp3D needed at least 4mb free RTG mem. to work
On my A1200T with Mediator/Voodoo 3000 I have to remove my WB backdrop so I get over 4mb free RTG mem from Warp3D stuff to work

Huh? Never had that kind of problems.. IIRC CV64/3D had one meg reserved for 3D textures and that was too small for some software, but wb screen etc were in remaining 3M and it didn't affect much what there was?
And with Voodoo3 (16M) on A1200 I haven't had problems with Warp3D stuff and it has big background picture etc :) Umm.. could VoodooMem setting or something affect...

If you wanna run PPC warp3d stuff you only have 8mb RTG mem to play with

I actually played Heretic II when it was new on the Amiga on my A4000 CSPPC 060/200 on a CV3D. Turned out that it was slower then sotware renderer in 480 x 360 (that was a halfway playable resolution) but looked a little bit "less blocky"
Soon changed over to CVPPC after that.
This was back in the time where there were still updates to Warp3D for every new game to came out. Support for CV3D in later versions of Warp3D only got "dragged alog" rather then real support for the card so maybe it does not work fully with the latest version anymore.

I remmember virge getting blasted as a graphics decellerator when it first appeared on the PC :-D

I don't recall ever getting the demos to work correctly, but I did have success with Descent and MenoBox. I may have had Nightlong working as well, but I don't remember. Under CGX, make sure you have the MULTIMEDIAMEM tooltype set, and be sure to use 15Bit screenmodes.
