ACA-620 incl. CPU 68EC020 and 9+1 MB RAM
« on: October 09, 2012, 05:10:34 PM »

Accelerator Board ACA-620

68EC020 CPU and 9+1 MB RAM for Amiga 600

As a replacement for the extremely popular (and extremely sold out) ACA-630 accelerator card:

The new ACA-620 is powered by a 68EC020 CPU clocked at 16.67 MHz, and it provides the popular MapROM function, just like all other ACA cards do: MapROM allows executing a Kickstart ROM from fast 32-bit memory, increasing execution speed considerably. The ACA-620 provides 9+1 MBytes of RAM (1 MByte reserved for MapROM function).

Features:
[*]CPU MC68EC020 clocked at 16.67 MHz
    [*]9+1 MB RAM on-board

EUR 99.90 incl. 19% German VAT (EUR 83.95 excl. VAT for non-EU customers)

Meh, I find these slow EC020 cards rather disappointing.

I thought they were quite fast. Are they more slow than what is in a stock Amiga 1200?

No, there's fast ram present, so it probably faster than stock A1200, but adding fast ram to a stock A1200 is also very cheap. I'd love to replace my aging 030+882@33MHz/32MB Apollo A630, but none of the ACA cards can do that.

Yep, definitely a huge downgrade compared to the previous ACA630.  Glad I got one before they sold out.

This seems like a nice little upgrade I guess.  Better than nothing.

It seems ACAtune allows enabling up to 12.3MB of ram, 1MB for kickstart and the rest could be used by special software (my proposals: p96 driver with indivisionECS??? disk buffers???):
    http://www.a1k.org/forum/showpost.php?p=560781&postcount=456

It looks more or less easy to overclock to 25Mhz but it would require additional cooling. It's a pity it's not the 680ec020 25Mhz model but it's ok.
