Online GURU codes decrypter
« on: June 28, 2003, 08:53:14 AM »
Not that anyone would find much use for it, but for fun ive coded an online javascript GURU Meditation code decrypter available from the FAQ's section at AmigaMonkey.com

Would appreciate it if someone could test it on Amiga browsers and let me know if there are any issues, as my A1200 is offline. Infact a screen shot of the page on Amiga browsers would be great if someone could take the time to do so as i have no idea how the site in general displays...

Here's a screenshot in the trial version of Voyager 2.70 without javascript etc in WinUAE at 800x600.  I'll see if I can get one under IBrowse as well.

Of course, it's better to do this sort of thing server-side.  I don't have a list of codes to hand, but I just knocked up this.  Try 80000001 or 80000002.

(it needs some work, obviously, but only serves as an example)

Even better, try this.  It even runs on an Amiga, but will only be up for about 15-20 mins so if you want to try it be quick.  Sorry for the formatting, I don't have time to fix it.

(Hmm, I can't seem to connect even from the machine it's running on, and this alternative doesn't seem any better.  If you try it let me know if you can connect or not, I suspect something is blocked at my ISP)
Oops, my mistake, it works now, forgot to update the DNS.

@AxE
localhost! hahaha, i can be a tool sometimes. Corrected.

@chris
I had actually done a server side decrypter first but  determined any server side generation of something so trivial to be a waste of bandwidth and not nearly as responsive. I would only ever do server side in cases where complexity, large data sets or compatability would be an issue. If there is a browser out there that cant handle javascript as simple as that it doesnt deserve to be installed! Plus, people can save this page localy and use it! (feel free to do so)

btw, if your after a reference for the guru codes fo your page, check my page as it has them further down.

That's true.  I'm not sure about the bandwidth-saving issue as you are sending more data over the network with JavaScript, also some people don't like to have it enabled.

Yes, I noticed that (after I had written the above).  I only did it for "fun", likewise the Amiga (ARexx script) link I gave is just a form which calls the "guru" program (from identify.library) and outputs the result over the web.  I quite enjoy writing crazed ARexx scripts that don't do much for a webserver nobody accesses. :-)

My  most common GURU code on my Amiga 2000HD is 80000003.  Is that just a catch-all failure code?

My Amiga 2000HD does not have an accelerator card.  It relies on  the original 68000 CPU.

It also has 1 MB Chip RAM, 4MB Fast RAM, A2091 SCSI hard disk controller card, SCSI 40 MB Quantum ProDrive hard drive, a second SCSI had drive (approx 17 MB) which I mount manually when required, SCSI CD-ROM drive.  AmigaOS 3.1, Fast File System on both hard drives and AsimCDFS for CD-ROM.

Unfortunately i dont know any more then what is on my FAQ page, so the only thing i can tell you is that your error is unrecoverable. If anyone does know more about the 8 codes (or any others i have missed), please let me know an i will update the FAQ.
