AmigaOne Keyboard (sans the name)
« on: July 21, 2010, 04:36:19 PM »
For UK buyers: http://uk.shopping.com/xPO-Cherry-Electrical-Cherry-Value-Keyboard-Black-Non-click-USB-J82-16000LUNGB-2-J82-16000LUNGB-2

So nearly 150% markup for "amiga" stickers/labels. The PS/2 version is available for £5.99 (233% markup).

Similar? Yes. Exactly the same model? I'm not 100% sure.

It's probably some other cheap PC keyboard.

edit: yeah, function keys are full-sized on the Trust ClassicLine one.

@Piru

Don't forget the custom Amiga HELP key that the AmigaOne keyboard has (to match the HELP key in the AmigaOS 4 keymap):

German version of the AmigaOne keyboard is arriving very shortly.

...Oh I can confirm its not the Trust keyboard that you posted.  Any candidate AmigaOne keyboard needs to be available in most major locales, FCC compliant, CE compliant, comfortable keys (most Amigans spend a lot of time on their computers) and reliable in operation.

Ok. It looks very similar though (cheap and crappy). Hopefully it is better than the Trust one.

But it doesn't matter that it looks like the cheapest crappy keyboard you could find?

I don't really have a problem with them attaching good quality bubble type plastic coated vinyl stickers to a keyboard. If they stay good for years, I'm happy.

I do have a problem with them doing that to one of the cheapest p.o.s. keyboards they could possibly find. It looks at least like a VERY low end keyboard. I'm a gear snob and would not use one of those just because it looks and probably feels very cheap.

Why don't they just sell a sticker kit for 20$? I'd buy that and then I can pick a keyboard thats not so cheapo.

So 300% markup for "amiga" stickers/labels.

I suppose we should just be happy with Apple's sloppy seconds instead... ;)

Ah, so you're happy to confirm that it's "Cherry Entry Level Keyboard USB Black" J82-16001 (or some other entry level Cherry keyboard of the same series), then?

(Excuse the poor quality here, but I believe the images were taken from a different angle and with slightly different angle of view)

I guess the only way to be sure is to remove the AmigaONE decal and see what's underneath :-)

Nah, Apple prices would probably be twice what the AmigaONE keyboards are going for.

Do you happen to have one? If so, how does it feel like while typing on it?

Hmmm. I have worked with all Apple keyboard models since 2000 and have to say that they are average. They beat most cheap crap from Logitech and the like, but they are not premium products by any means. They retail for 70 Euros, but aren´t very superior to other 50 Euro sets.

Currently they are even selling their notebook keyboards for the desktop computers. While theirs is a tiny bit better than Sonys Vaio keyboard, it still isn´t worth a look for die hard keyboard geeks! The finish and materials are however excellent.
