I'd "want" to buy one.

I'd consider support issues first.
I'd also consider price.

If Amiga, Inc. were to release a statement, saying that the SAM440 was being released with OS4.0 and Dealers could start selling them, say, a week later, how many of you would buy one?

Not enough information. I would be leaning towards NO based on the lack of details. However, if the price was cheap enough (LOL!!) and some developers were jumping on board I might consider it in a moment of weakness.

I think I'd prefer the ACube solution, even if only cos of the onboard gfx, but its really not relevant to me until my A1 goes the way of all things, and I need somewhere to run OS4.

At the moment I am waiting on a $99 Efika/MOS2.0 bundle, I'd buy a couple :-D

and thats about as likely as G Dubya B getting into Mensa...

-edit- although it might be fun to get one anyway to try and build an Amiga based PVR... ;-)

Maybe, depends on price/specs. Reading the specs of the ACK low-end design made me think, if it was quick enough to play a DVD or some other video streams properly it might not be so bad, just in case.

If it came bundled with OS4, I would consider it depending on support issues etc.

I don't trust AInc.'s plans for AmigaOS or their competence to develop it (hired developers in India ? Yeah right...). So the answer is...

Hell no.  A 400mhz machine running a barely-capable OS with a decade-old display card that would chug trying to play back DVDs, with no appreciable apps?

Lemme tell you - I'd take it off Amiga, Inc's hands out of pity, for free.

I'm not considering buying one, simply because I can get way better for the spare money that I have.

I would only buy a new Amiga if it were some sort of a "revolutionary" machine. Now that word can be filled in with lots of things, but I absolutely have no special feeling with this new Amiga motherbaord.

Now if they would make a beautiful case for it, true to the Amiga heritage (did somebody say Walker?), plus some nice things like the old Amiga 1200 Magic Pack, THEN I think it really has something. But not if it's just a dull green board in a dull grey/black/blue case.

@Methuselas

Not to start anything but, here on A.O you imply a pertnership between A-Inc. and ACube. On AW.net you do not.

First announcements went like this; A-Inc./ACK & Hyperion/ACube. How many different directions can this circle jerk go?

Or, was that a typo?   ;-)
A500: 2MB Chip, 8MB Fast, IndiECS, MiniMegi, IDE4ZorroII on Z-500, KS1.3/KS3.1, WB3.1&BWB

A2000HD: 2MB Chip, 128MB Fast, P5:Blizz 2060@50MHz, PCD-50B/4GBCF, XSurf100, RapidRoad, IndiECS, Matze RTG, MiniMegi, CD-RW, SunRize AD516, WB3.9

A1200: 2MB Chip, 64MB Fast, 4GBCF, GVP Typhoon 030 @40MHz w/FPU, Subway USB, EasyNet Ethernet, Indi AGA MKI, FastATA MK-IV, Internal Slim CD/DVD-RW, WB3.5
