Check out the video.  A 6502 chip can do better video than the Amiga:

This is seriously amazing.

My hat goes off to people like this who come up with these brilliant ideas.

Is “genius” to strong a compliment? I don’t think so…

Cheers,

Mike.

I believe they can build that on a grander scale using faster and better chips.

The possibilities are greatly extended when you have separate memories for sprites and playfields.

80s computers were limited by sharing memory, and a limited amount at that, for reasons of cost and the fact that pins on chips actually cost a lot once you reached a certain number.

There's no reason a 6502C can't drive an amazing graphics subsystem on its own, when the subsystem has no memory or pin limitations to deal with.

However, in case I sound like a sourpuss, this is still a brilliant achievement in so few discrete 74 series chips.

Impressive, but no software to play with it. If it sell one day and that a community write software or port 6502 one's that could be fun. But it seems far more powerful than an Amiga how it stack up to a Vampire I don't know.

With some hacking this project could potentially become a surprisingly cheap Amiga graphics card.

Anyway, so f$cking great as it is!
