a1200 needs new PCMCIA holder
« on: February 27, 2022, 07:32:59 PM »
Hi All,
I dropped my 1200 and broke the holder for PCMCIA cards, (See Photo)
Any one know where I can get a replacement?
Much appreciated and thanks,
Brad Hansen

Ouch!

Are the pins integral to the holder, would you t need to be desoldered and a new one soldered on?

Does it still hold a card and work? If so I'd be tempted to keep it as it is, even though it's not perfect.

Andy,

Yes, it would need to be de-soldered and then re-soldered. No, it does not
work, which is odd, I mean it just will not line up. And since I am always using
it and it is available also for Internet connection this has really twisted my knot.
Wish I knew who to contact or where to get help.
Thanks,
Brad Hansen

Just an idea: Maybe you could simply glue the broken parts together with superglue? If it is enough to hold the card into place, it was worth it, otherwise you'd simply still be in the same situation of having to replace the whole thing.

Maybe worh a try?

Best regards,

Niels

Hi All,

First I want to say that I did try to use Super Glue to fix my issue. Didn't work, I had a real good seal on it
but it still came apart when I inserted my card.
Second, I can not that thank walkero enough for the info to order a new one, which I have done.
I was just sick with what had happened and didn't know what to do. I love my A1200 and use it
everyday. This was a life saver for me.

You will also need to replace C821 as it has been damaged as well.
