A3640 & BlizKick?
« on: August 16, 2004, 05:14:06 PM »
What's the correct way of running BlizKick and A3640? If I understand correctly, A3640 is a bit trickier to set up than the Phase 5 cards. Any tips? Does BlizKick still go as the first line of the startup-sequence, if used with A3640?

Thanks.

IIRC, it wasn't any more difficult then setting it up on a Blizzard/Cyberstorm.  The docs say to run it after Setpatch.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Just set the MAPROM jumper to enabled on the A3640 and then you can use your favorite BlizKick line used with one of your other Phase5 equipped Amigas.

If I remember bits of the documentation correctly the only requirements for using BlizKick is that the accelerator board needs a MAPROM feature and a MMU.

I could be wrong on this point though.

-- EDIT --

Seems like we are both right... This is part of the BlizKick ReadMe (an outdated ReadMe file that is)

BlizKick is used to rekick any Kickstart ROM image with  Blizzard turbo boards having MAPROM feature (jumper). Also A4000 CPU & Cyberstorm Cards should work. BlizKick has been tested with BLIZZARD 1230-I, 1230-II, 1230-III, 1230-IV, 1240-T/ERC, 1260, 2040-ERC, 2060, Cyberstorm MK II, Cyberstorm MK III, CyberStorm PPCm Blizzard PPC and A3640 boards. Kickstart 1.2, 1.3, 2.04, 2.05, 3.0 and 3.1 are currently tested ROM images.

OK, I got it working. :-)
I forgot to add the CPUCARD line, as it is necessary for A3640, since blizkick cannot auto-detect it. Other than that, all the usual rules apply. It works as the first line of the SS file.
