Title: advice soldering IDE connector on 1200

well I got my old defective through board IDE connector off cleanly on my 1200 but now I need some advice soldering the new connector to the MB as the pins are too bloody tight ..any ideas?

Yeah, don't even bother trying unless you've a needlepoint tip on your iron. Also, use the thinnest solder you can find, and apart from that there aren't any special techniques or anything - it's pretty simple.

To handle such delicate things, you need the right tool. It may be expensive but it's better.

servisol soldamop to clean up the PCB contacts and use solder paste.
