Hi,
I got Easy CD Creator 5 Deluxe installed and when I run WinUAE with UAE scsi.device enabled
it wil not start. I get the error "Cannot open "uaescsi.device unti 0" I know it's caused
by Easy CD Creator. Is there a fix for or a solution?

using ASPI layer?
-
@T_Bone
Yes. That's the prob, right?

The ASPI drivers Easy CD Creator 5 installs is the problem which makes UAE not detect the drive/s properly,
Remove the ASPI drivers then get the latest ones, install them and the problems should go away,
Had that and the same problem with Accoustica mp3 burner,
Just to add it is a well known problem with Roxio products to make other cd burning programs or programs what use the cd drive to not work properly untill you reinstall the ASPI drivers.
Only Roxio makes your nightmares come true :-D
-
I installed them and offcourse I need to reboot. That's Windows. But it should work then. I wil let you know. Thnx for the help everyone.

It did not work. Hmmmmm. I installed v4.70 but I gues I need newer ones.

Make sure you deleted every trace of ASPI drivers on the machine then reboot, then first of all install the ones that came with the Windows your using (which i still use the ones that come with 98SE),
Try that before installing Adaptecs new ones,
I used to run Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and it was a good program but the problems it installs then leaves behind after uninstalling is a complete nightmare and a joke, i now use Nero instead.

@Paul_Gadd
Nero does not work with my burner. But Easy CD does.
Make sure you deleted every trace of ASPI drivers on the machine then reboot
Your talking about manually remove certain dll files?

Is there a fix for or a solution?
Yup. Delete EasyCD Creator and install Nero!
Actually, I'm not joking either. Easy/Roxio (as reported elsewhere) is a nasty piece of work. I use Nero to burn everything from CD's to DVD's and it just plain works.
I've never been happy allowing EasyCD anywhere near a machine of mine since the almighty F#(k up that happened with WinXP :~/
What Burner do you have? Nero is updated virtually every week, I'd be very suprised if your burner isn't covered.

@coder
State what windows your using would help,
Not deleting dll files but the system files which are left behind when you might think you have uninstalled/removed the aspi drivers.
-
I got Windows 98. I just downloaded a newer version of the aspi drivers. I will give that a go.
About Nero, some weeks ago I tried the latest version wich did not work. I got a Acer CRW4432A.

WIN98\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS\APIX.VXD
WIN98\SYSTEM\WINASPI.DLL
WIN98\SYSTEM\WNASPI32.DLL
and ONE of the following two files
WIN98\SYSTEM\ASPIENUM.VXD (this is the file that comes from Adaptec)
WIN98\ASPI2HLP.SYS (this is the file that comes with Win95)
Use find and remove all them,
click HERE (http://www.chickensys.com/bin/aspi.zip) to download the win98 files.
Extract winaspi.dll, wnaspi32.dll, and aspienum.vxd into your system directory.
Extract sparrow.mpd and apix.vxd into your iosubsys directory in your system directory.
These are the original Windows95/98/ME distribution files - this is to get you back to installed Windows status
Extract and run aspi32.exe, this will update the files to 4.06 (1021) status
Extract and run aspichk.exe, this will help you see if all the files are matched and are the correct versions.
If it still doesn't work, extract the wnaspi32_nero.dll file into your Translator folder, and rename it wnaspi32.dll,
I had to do that twice after installing Roxio`s wonderfull product.

Hi Paul_Gadd,
Well, I don't use WinUAE so much (the cdrom part) so I can manage. And I bet my Windows gets screwed up. LOL. And I will try a newer nero version again soon. If I remove Easy CD Creator I am saved also. :-) I had both working some time ago but then I had Easy CD Creator version 3.x
Thnx for your help.

@Coder
I got a Acer CRW4432A.
This has been supported by Nero since Ver 4.4 so it _should_ work.
As stated on other posts, it has to be the ASPI drivers, hopefully Paul's advice on uninstalling and re-installing will sort you problems out.

lol, don't I know it, formerly a peecee repairman, I converted countless individuals to nero4 or cdmate.
even a few to (IMHO the traitorous) asimware's hotburn.

Q. Your Virus in your CD Burning software is causing all my other CD Burning software to malfunction.
A. We can not help you their as we do not discuss our nasty code which tries and forces you to use our product only, please email all the other CD Burning software authors and tell them we are No1.
:-D
@DethKnight
After being a fan of Adaptec Easy CD creator which never messed up on me once, i decided to install the Roxio Easy CD creator 5 and OMG that turned out to be the worst mistake EVER, any software what corrupts ASPI drivers is clearly not worth supporting.
-
Easy CD Creator 5 also has DirectCD in it for packet writing, doesn't it? Could that packet writing software be causing the conflict (i.e. holding the device busy or something else so the WinUAE emulation can't use it) ???
-
@SilvrDrgn
Easy CD Creator 5 also has DirectCD in it for packet writing, doesn't it?
Yup. I also had it installed and was one of the first things I removed. But it does not solve the problem. To bad. I can live without DirectCD. :-)

@Coder
If you follow the instuctions above you can have proper working ASPI drivers, if you are ever going to remove Roxio`s joke then all i say is Good Luck as the worst is not over.
-
@Paul_Gadd
I give it a try rigth now. I will let you know what the result is. :-)

Make sure you keep the aspi.zip file if your going to remove or install other Roxio products, it will save you time and less hassle,
Visit ASPI Problems (http://www.chickensys.com/translator/misc/aspiproblems.html) for more details.

How is it with WinXP? I have it installed on an XP machine, just wondering how badly it messes up XP. Would a "sfc /scannow" fix the problem???

@Paul_Gadd
Thnx! It worked. A reboot is required after you do the changing. But that is Windows. :-)
