Hi,
Wow, the site is looking a lot different! I just paid a visit to the image gallery and discovered that any gif images don't display as their thumbnail, showing the full size image instead. I assume that isn't quite intentional :-)
-edit-
This one is definately fixed now :-D

I actually expected the new layout to be a bit disorientating. I am sure there will be many changes and we will get used to them after a while.
-
Bug 2...(well not exactly)
Another thing I noticed is that most peoples signatures have been truncated..

Yep mine was truncated so I edited it.
Not a major thing really.
[Edit]
Hmm.... the quoting system is 'different'
-
Ten minutes ago the sig. worked as expected.
-
They are back :-)
-
Another 'feature' I just noticed - the 'whos online -> more' window lists the anonymous (guest?) users, which is a bit confusing.
-edit-
how typical - I axed my old sig thinking it was gone for good. Now they are back
-
I am sure there are people frantically working away in the background to sorting out all the teething problems.
Is it just me or is the site 'mutating' right before my eyes?

I'm sure they are too. I'm just reporting stuff as I find it, in case it helps iron out problems.
I seem to have noticed a few changes in the last few minutes, but as everything is new, it's a bit hard to tell ;-)
-
Heh heh... this is strange. Still, nothing too bad seems to have happened. Except my lovely sig got strangled. I thought it was quite compact...
-
I'm finding it hard to navigate... a lot of the old functionality has been removed :-(
-
@bloodline
I am lost without the latest posts feature. I sure hope thats reintroduced soon!

That link was vital to my browsing experience... and where has the Edit button gone :-( -Edit- Found it
-
Our crack team of Oompa Loompas are on it.

If they could find the search dialog that would be nice too...
-
Any chance of whipping a crack squad of Ooopa Loompas into restoring the PMail, ICQ etc buttons that used to appear at the foot of each persons post? I found the Pmail kinda handy :-)
-
I'm missing the comments to submitted images.

Under the side banner ad on the front page above who's online. Though I suppose it would be nice if it showed on all pages.

About the last posts
I already posted this in another thread but...
For now, just bookmark http://www.amiga.org/modules/lastposts/ to view the latest posts. Works a treat here :-)
-

No. It hasn't. No functionality has been removed whatsoever. None. Not a single thing. This is just growing pains from a bunch of people who don't like any changes whatsoever.
-
@Karlos,
No. Just FIX YOUR BOOKMARKS to the correct URL:
http://www.amiga.org
-
@Wayne
Updated :-) Still, it is that old 'latest posts' link that was on the top right of each forum page that I am missing. I just suggested the link straight to the page for people like myself who used to use that old link a lot.
-
How about frames around news items? Just a black thin border, other than that i dont have any complaints :-)
hmmm...btw maybe smilies on the left when you write a message, for easy access.
Cheers!

No. It's www.amiga.org. Try deleting your cookie.

I just tried an experiment. I found a picture of mine that used to have several comments (about 18 ot so). The number of comments was listed there, but none of the comments themselves.
So I added a new test comment and I found it showed up ok, but the comment count was now back at 1.
-
Ok, a few things:
When you open a thread, the focus jumps to the bottom of the thread, quite annoying, imho. Ah, apparently that only applies when accessing them from the front page, I guess I can live with that :)
Also, the comments to news items insist on showing up in the "threaded" view, even though I chose "flat" in my profile.
Other than a few fonts that look a bit large, I have no major gripes with the new look, I'm sure it will be revised as we go on :)
---edit---
Funny little thing, i didn't remember appending those three dots in the end of my signature, so I removed them ... or so I thought, they seem to have come back ... o_O

I noticed that, hence my signature ;-)

LOL, I actually wondered what you meant by that ...

When you click on one of your recent threads on your profile page, you arrive at one of your posts in that thread. Perhaps that's what Xoops is trying to do for you in all threads and if it can't find a post by you, it defaults to the last post?
-
Nope, no defaults. It just takes you to the last post in a topic. Apparently, it was a popular requested feature by those that use Xoops.
If anyone has any suggestions, non-theme related, about how Xoops works, you can head over to http://www.xoops.org and voice your opinions to the developers directly.

@Markus_Bieler:
How does your signature work? that little guy is quite intelligent!

Ok, this is my first post on the new www.Amiga.org ... I realy need to get used to the theme ;-) But congrats :-D
Why can't I reply in the news?
Bugs so far:
In the latest posts, there is a link to "forums page", it has a wrong link!
When you want to make a post, there is no "Smiley", there is only the link "more..." ... If you don't want the Smiley-example, couldn't you just rename "more..." into "Smilies"?

It's just like the counters I had on my first homepage ... When you visit the site, the image has to be loaded ... http://www.danasoft.com/ (http://www.danasoft.com/) gets the info of the computer that wants to load the image, and alters it with the information.
-
@hnl_dk:
I see! they have a cgi or asp that looks at the referrer data in the HTTP request and builds an image on the fly. Coolest use of that data I've seen yet :-)
[EDIT] BTW Wayne, the notification system rocks :-D
-
There is only one thing i find a little bit irritating, the
column that only contains this picture:
it takes up to much space imho, it steals some valuable space from the main column, but perhaps there is a hidden feature in having it there?
Anyway, the new theme rendes fast on my machine and it looks very clean and easily navigated.
You guys rocks!

Reporting bugs is good but some people seem to be complaining about the looks. I am sure they will change as time goes by.
Anyone remember the change in the "Windows World" from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 ?
A lot of people found the changes strange and many complained. Ask the same people now and they would probably never go back to Win 3.1 .
It will take a bit of time to adjust and to find the new locations of old features and to get used to the new ones.
Let them iron out the bugs and then they can concentrate on the visual aspects later. :-)

That image didn't grow in my brain. I saw it on another site and I copied it.
look at:

I've added the Latest Posts link to my Sig, that should help us :-)

image gallery does not allow me to submit pictures saying i need to log in even though i am loged in and comments on images are not being displayed.
-
hi
how is it possible, to change the color of the quoting background? here the quoting and the post, have the same color . . . .difficult to understand, the quoting from the post.
Ciao
-
The taking you back to the last post feature is actually one thing I really love!
Where are the smillies at the bottom of the post screen? To access them you must click 'more...' now :(
And all of those 'www' 'pmail' 'email' buttons for each users post are gone
-
I was looking at a screenshot and wanted to read the comments...
But couldn`t sus it out...
So, How do i read the comments on the images (in library)?
-
I don't know if it's me that's blind, but I can't find any 'mark forum as "read"' link anywhere. That might be a good idea to have, now that the forums no longer (for me, at least) unmarks themselves on exit.
Hmm, does that make sense?
I'll use an example:
I visit the forums, read a few threads that interest me, skip the ones that don't.
Close my browser.
Later on, I come back to see what's new and the ones I skipped earlier are still marked as unread (red folder).
Some way of telling the database that I'm not interested in the rest of the threads (unless there are new posts again) would be nice, just a suggestion :)
-

Y'know, I was about to post that today, but I thought I'd better read the bug reports first incase there was a fix or something :-D
It's happened here yestereday and today. It doesn't seem to be connected to cookies or history as I've tried with and without cleaning them. Oh, and I'm using Opera, but I think most of you know that anyways ;-)
One good thing tho... I can use the [more...] smiley's link :-o 8-) :pint: :-D
--Edit--
Who's that in your avatar Blom?
-
Who's that in your avatar Blom?
That's big boy Tøffe :-)
I might edit it when I can be arsed, though, the edges look a bit light on the new slightly darker grey background.
I'd prefer the image without the tacky frame, but that's the way I got it, apparently someone felt like playing with the digicam..
