NEW MMU Libs & ACA Update

You guys should really consider contacting Thomas directly and get his view on things and why he left this site.

Also: the answers to ALL your questions regarding the CPU libs and mmu.library are in the documentation - what makes you think ThoR wish to repeat them for you specifically, as if he’s your personal support guy or something? Did he write all those docs and even drawings for nothing? And all questions regarding IComp products should be directed to the IComp support channel, IComp’s forums.

My post wasn't a "sound the fire alarm - I wanna know what the h3ll!" Used to be that software authors would create a news entry to inform of new updates & provide a brief overview of their use.

It is right there in the readme, you linked to!

I provided links to both packages and simply asked what the two different packages are aimed towards since they seem similar.

Also right there in the readmes:

* one is the full MMU package with all MMU tools etc
  (and the new thing is memory.library for those that wish to extend their programs with virtual memory support.)

* one is the CPU libraries, more aimed at those who just want a CPU library and have little interest for the MMU tools, or even don't have any MMU. This package also contains mmu.library, but more as a dependency than "the main thing" - "This library is part of the MMULib distribution. To find out more about the mmu.library and its goals, download util/libs/MMULib.lha." it says in the readme.

Also why would an iComp software update be in his MMU.lib update.

I don't grasp why you think there is IComp software update here - there is no software update of IComp software here - to quote the readme you linked to:

This distribution also includes a new (still experimental) MMU setup helper "ACAInit" that opens the MMU pages for some older ACA (icomp)
cards such that ACATune will hopefully continue to operate on them. To use ACAInit, copy it to LIBS:mmu, and add this command at the
end of ENVARC:MMU-Configuration. Feedback welcome.

Because I found the answers to all your questions just by skimming through the readmes in the links.

You are more than welcome to ask him about both, and anything else you may be in doubt about. Such as his current involvement in the OS development, rumours has it that he has pretty much quit, and if he has... is that my fault too?

So what do you guys use the mmulib for? Which "Mutool" do you use, and why? Or do you just dump in the libs and consider yourself done?
