It was only a few years ago that many considered AMD CPU's "good for games, but for serious apps use Intel". That has changed for sure, my own PC uses a 3000+ Athlon (as I have backed AMD for some time now)and I am seeing less of the "intel required" type apps these days, A good thing too.
It is still surprising how few apps utilise multiple processors though, I have seen many a dual Xeon working at half capacity simply due to lack of software support. High end 3D apps for example that may use both processors for the render engine but only use one whilst modelling.
What effect this will all have on the Amiga?... who knows?
My next purchase is a Dragon 1200 board anyhow & still the only Intel CPU in my house is in my XBOX. :-D
As for Apple....my powermac sits idle & why upgrade when the OS is comming to my AMD anyway? :-?
