Speaking of local, enough interest for a South Florida club?
« on: September 10, 2003, 12:54:53 PM »
Hey there! Lately I have been speaking with and selling to quite a few people who live fairly close. I am starting to wonder if there is enough interest in starting some sort of south florida club?

NG stuff is here. Pegasos/MOS1.4 is out. A1 is out and OS4 is on it's way, Pegasos II is on it's way, even C=1 is on it's way! Outside of AO users I could recruit a few members. How about a club that is like AO and allows people with all preferences to join. AOS users, MOS users, emulator people and even C= 8bit folk? I think if we get at least a dozen people to start with it woud be worth it. We could start with only 1 meeting per month and see how things go.

Ok FL people, speak up. Interested or not?

Jim, that is a great idea!

:-)

We will be in St. Pete's Beach (Pass-a-Grill) in October.  Any chance we could come to the first meeting?  :-D

I don't know about South Florida, but there should be a lot of former(?) Amigans around the Cape Canaveral area like Coco Beach, Ft. Myers, Titusville, Melbourne etc.  We all used to work for the NASA ground stations before we were obsoleted by satellites.  Sorry to say I have lost touch with these folks, but they may even still use A2K's & A4K's at hangar AE.

@Lo

I'd certainly welcome them, but that is an aweful far drive away for areas like Coco Beach! Probably 5-6 hour drive each way:-(

OTOH I am thinking maybe some Naples/Tampa/West Palm Beach people would be willing to make the trek once a month.

BUMP!

Only ~6 people so far. We need some more FL people to speak up.

What other AO members are from Florida? I know I've seen quite a few lately, but they might not check AO everyday. Let me know if you think of them and I will PM them to see if they are interested.

If there is enough interest to do this, bbrv will attend the show. How about that? A celebrity appearance at our new club :-D

@redrumloa

If you can get it organized, my new apartment complex allows the renting-out of the clubhouse.  Might be a good place to hold it, nice clean area, good view, BBQ pit, and space to set up.
