MIDI Thru doesn't typically stack the information from MIDI In with the device's own output, though - it just passes on MIDI In untouched. (Some gear has an option to change this, but not a lot.) If you really need input from multiple devices, you'll have to get a switcher or a more advanced junction device that combines the output signals  from multiple devices onto one line.
