Title: Hyperion: Ben Hermans no longer corporate director
Post by: ddniUK on January 22, 2017, 04:21:38 PM
I like to keep an eye on Developments at Hyperion Entertainment.
This just popped up and seems to definitely be a DEVELOPMENT!!

If my language skills are accurate, Timothy De Groote confirms that on 16th December 2016 and published 12th Jan 2017, Ben Hermans has left Hyperion management!

Pardon my ignorance, but why is that important? Is that going to have any impact on any form of OS4 development?

That is an excellent question. I have no idea. I hope that it may show a sign of activity in what has been an almost stagnant company.

Isn't this about the 4th time he's either stepped down or been replaced if the wikipedia entry for hyperion is to be believed?

He seems a colourful character, but I really have no idea what the  reasons. Hyperion and AmiOS4 are really not my business mostly. So I'm  not going there and guessing.

As kamelito said, it only states that Ben is no longer director. It's not clear from the statement whether he demoted or totally left the company.

Great news if true. Finally OS4 could get moved forward.

If he's no longer an "owner" of the company it might make it easier to fire him for incompetence now. That's assuming he still works there.

AFAIK, he never was an owner.

@thread

the following was just released by hyperion entertainment on their website (http://hyperion-entertainment.biz):

Quote
Hyperion Management Restructuring
Brussels, January 23, 2017

Hyperion Entertainment CVBA wishes to announce that Mr. Ben Hermans has resigned as a director of the company to allow him to concentrate on his practice as legal counsel. He remains committed to Hyperion Entertainment and will continue representing its legal interests in the best possible way. Ben of course also remains a shareholder in the Hyperion Entertainment business.

Timothy De Groote
Costel Mincea

Directors, Hyperion Entertainment CVBA

so that answers that, then. :)

AFAIK, he never was a shareholder. At least not until they went bankrupt.

A-Eon have acquired rights to quite a few bits of software but don't AFAIK have a habit of acquiring the companies that previously held the rights. Hyperion have rights to develop AmigaOS but can they sell those rights or are they legally bound to the company? I believe Hyperion contract out all the development rather than having software developers permanently on staff, a model that A-Eon is also using for it's acquisitions. It does seem crazy that A-Eon is at the mercy of Hyperion and their contracted devs for an OS to get the best out of their hardware, an OS that has only seen a 0.1 version increment in over a decade.

I'm far from an expert on these matters but I think there might be ways around it "reverse mergers" or whatever you call them etc.
