Good mag and worth supporting, Dave Haynie will no doubt get attacked (again) by the people known as the "true amigans" but his opinions are interesting and hard hiting.

"true amigans"

A thought on that. You know Japanese animation, anime? Well, any cartoon made in Japan is anime. If Americans want to make anime, they have to stick to a certain style or else it won't be considered "anime", but a Japanese person can do whatever style he wants and it will be called anime. The whole point is that if Commodore was still around making Amiga's, they would be much different today than 12 years ago when Commodore folded. What then would the "true amigans" have to say? Nothing. Haynie's "crazy" ideas would be fanifest in the latest Amiga.

I think Haynie has a point about "cutting edge" being Amiga rather than Amiga just being backwards compatible with old hardware. Anything any non-Commodore entity today makes must be compatible with the old Amiga to even be considered as Amiga, not just some new piece of hardware that has an Amiga sticker. Maybe there's something to this whole moving forward thing.

What are you talking about?

If you mean the several weeks Dave enjoyed some banter with the folks over at Amigaworld.net then you have a very slewed view of reality.  :-)

I guess he's being sarcastic, since he put it in quotation marks.
Honestly, in that thread Mikey_C first completely slags him off:

"Wow Dave Haynie, speaks and people have to go out now, dump their A1's and Classic PPC cards, buy an x86 box and harrass hyperion.
Darn, I really like my MicroA1 with OS4 on PPC, but I guess, I have to dump it now, cos someone who no longer has anything to do with the Amiga scene says so.
Gee I can't wait for Someone from Amiga inc to tell us that using OS4 is evil and that we should all be running Amiga Anywhere.
Sheesh!"

while he later backs down from it after "the master himself" is surprisingly participating in the discussion:

"Thanks for posting Dave, We are honoured to have you here."

:lol:

Funny to see him and TA doing the interview now.

@weirdami

Shows you have far those Amiga users have come.

They clearly would rather have expensive Amiga named hardware and a OS dedicated to a few fans than let their OS go to cheap popular hardware, what has the most users that would rake in a lot more money/users than what the pathetic situation is now.

Stupidity with a capital "S"

@humppa

Yeah, he gets attacked then brown nosed :lol:

Great artical intresting to read good to see they are still around.

agreeing with: Weirdami Humppa

the whole point is to not folow the main stream CRAP!! ( for me anyway )

I can tell you when I get home I want nothing to do with (fix) windows based systems OR hardware.

My Amiga is a God send, different OS AND hardware.
its interesting & elegent small OS.

Sure I have a XP machine that I use to satisfy my BF1942 (DC) & BF2 fetish but it's just a games machine!! <-----LOL at that statement :lol:

who's a games machine now?????

I respect hard hitting views on cost and practicality ( they are true ) but if that was the point I'd just can my Amiga and use Winblows never mind the amiga clones.
