There is more information, including a picture on the announcement at the Amiga32 in Neuss here:

a1k threads aren't publicly accessible. But there is also a real news entry: http://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-2017-10-00059-EN.html

Great, but I just installed OS3.9 with all possible updates ;). How much more someone can update 060.library?

I think people would be happy to have new chip rom with "official" updates so we don't need to restart Amiga's multiple times.

We need new OS3.95 :D.

What about OS3.9 update...

There is a bit more than that in the making. Like fixed softlinks, long file names in the FFS and DirectSCSI support.

Not quite sure what you mean. The 68060.library you better take from your Turbo board vendor. Or, failing that, directly from me. (-;

CBM never released a 68060 board, so there is no 68060.library from CBM either.

What about OS3.9 update...

The situation is complicated... Some of the 3.9 sources have been lost because H&P never checked them back into the repository. Some of the 3.9 rights were lost because authors can no longer be reached.

What I'm trying is to find the latest possible version of all tools I can get hold of, provided that we can use it. Which is sometimes less than 3.9 (so the HDToolBox is based on the 3.1 version, just in a working condition), and sometimes more than 3.9 (like asl, diskfont, layers and the shell).

However, before this complete package will be released, there will be a "Museum version" which will be a very very minor update. Probably just the FFS and the HDToolBox.

I think I'm using yours (for sure not the original). I have to start remembering names of people involved in Amiga in more direct way... :). Due to Internet (any "me" learning English), I actually can talk to people who made software I used 20+ years ago :).

I was on "sabbatical" for some time as far as Amiga, so I missed like 10 years (or more) of various type of issues..., so I'm still learning. I know for sure that there was plenty of issues.

It would be nice to have updated OS3.1 as much as possible and officially.

So does this mean we will now have a "fork" of AmigaOS 68k at 3.1, so we'll have 3.9 which has to fall the way-side for official updates while 3.1 gets official updates?

Oh yes, optional UTC system clock and let the "timezone" in Prefs/Locale actually make a difference :)

Yeah, to me, it feels like 3.5/3.9 was a dead-end fork, and development has resumed based on 3.1. AmigaOS 4.1 is based on the 3.1 codebase as well, and AROS/MorphOS are made to be API-compatible with 3.1.

In terms of features and eye-candy out of the box, 3.9 is probably still the best, but what matters in the end is that all the tools, commands, libraries, patches etc.

Agree completely. In addition, when I am handing money over for software I expect some basic level of support when problems/issues crop up. Why would I pay money for a dead product with no support?. If there are bugs or problems that was just money well wasted.

Plus with the 3.1 updates there are tangible developers benefiting from their work... developers that should be carrying the torch going forward. :)
