If you don't get the new graphics and speech and can only run in classic mode, I really dont see the point.  The classic mode on MI1 AND MKI2 on the xbox360 at least are identical to the originalm unless I missed something ?

Yes it is, basically it'll be the same as the native Amiga version from 1990.

The new graphics ARE cool, but honestly, my love for the classic graphics will never die.

Hmmn you sure?  If you go to classic mode on the 360/iPad the speech goes off.

You do have the "Deep in the Caribbean, Mellee island" mentioned in the intro on the cut-away scenes.   But on both the iOS and XBox versions, switching to Classic mode turns off any speech and just has the original background music.  I'd wager it's an error on the above post.

@Danwood have you played it on the iphone and not just the ipad? Just wondering if i should play it or not (on the iphone).

Yeah got it on both, it's a bit more fiddly on the iPhone with the smaller screen, but still very playable and enjoyable, it is MI after all

This patch makes it so that you can play with Classic GFX plus Talkie via ScummVM.

Um... I'm pretty sure the iOS version has a preference setting to keep speech in classic mode... I'll check later.

Just checked on my iPhone, can't see that option anywhere, all you appear to be able to change is the subtitles:
