Did what?

Get a reply?

Easy. I first wrote him, asking for a shipping quote and whether those machines came with an HDD or not (he never answered that one though). A few minutes later, because I was nervous and actually forgot to include my address, I wrote another email and mentioned that he should consider it an order.

3 hours later I received a reply and Presto! no 44 was mine.

Too bad other Amiga originals aren't doing something similar.
I could really need a 060 or PPC accelerator and one of those massive (256MB) RAM upgrades for that lovely machine ;)

Other (currently residing in a small patch of land less than a mile off the Swiss border)

I didn't provide a Paypal address, as I didn't even know he was accepting Paypal.
As far as I understood, he issues invoices and people will have to pay by wire.

BTW: Kinda off topic, but whatever became of Underground Arcade (the game company Cammy used to promote a few years back)?

Well, I don't know if he accepts Paypal either... I was just wondering how he was going to invoice you.

(currently residing in a small patch of land less than a mile off the Swiss border) - Which country? Liechtenstein? And you have hi-speed internet? I'd say that maybe as much as 30-40% in the US still have no broadband internet!

Awesome stat! - Liechtenstein has the highest gross domestic product per person in the world when adjusted by purchasing power parity,[9] and has the world's lowest external debt. Liechtenstein also has the second lowest unemployment rate in the world at 1.5% (Monaco is first).

Hehe. I wish I was living in Liechtenstein.
Nah. It's actually still Germany, though it used to be cut off from the rest in earlier days.
It's kind of the last small dot on the most detailed map you can find.

Where I live, we don't even have a police but we have border control everywhere. The nearest outpost is just a few hundred feet from my house.

I also wish I had broadband internet, but I'm still sucking on a 458KBit connection which drops out several hundred times every day from 5PM to 1AM.

I'm moving to the next town in just a bit more than three months. By then, I should have 2MBit internet + 10MBit Satellite

We're trying to work on a few games still, but the team only consists of Rebel and I now. We have no forum and all the other team members drifted off and found other things to do.

Do new team members have to be located in Australia/Oceania?

As soon (or even while I'm still on it) as I've wrapped up my current Sega Dreamcast/PC productions, I'd be happy to assist you guys.

I actually dream of coding a claymation point and click adventure ever since I read about Douglas TenNapel's new book, so perhaps my first Amiga game could be just that (utilizing INGA or Graal)

EDIT: Concerning the Amiga 1200's expandability. Do all Amiga 1200s come with an ATA interface already installed? If I acquire Amiga OS 3.9, is there any upper limit as to the size of an HDD? E. g. could I install a 300GB HDD and get it initialized without doing any changes to the underlying hardware or software?

There aren't any requirements to joining Underground Arcade other than an enthusiasm to make fun, new games for Amigas and other retro systems.

Yeah, IDE already there, but it is the larger 44pin interface, not the 40pin one.... A simple cable adaptor is used to ignore the extra pins (which are just power lines).

AmigaOS 3.1 wasn't happy with partitions over 2gig... But that is a simple software fix.

Ok. Thanks.

I guess I'll need to read up on the subject.
I was going to buy Amiga OS 3.9 ASAP. This and a fast turbo card (wish PPC was more common or, at the very least, Jens was producing 040 or 060 turbo cards).

In all honesty, I find doing Amiga dev work easier using UAE than real hardware. Obviously, you should have a real machine to test it on though.

Good point.

I'll probably use my Amiga 1200 for mostly testing.
Even then, it's still nice to have a small machine I can power up every now and then, rather than relying on my beastly PC I can't easily transfer from one room to the next.

For stuff like Graal II, I'll definitely use the Amiga exclusively.

Speaking of which: Anyone got a recording of a talkie Graal II game? Would really like to know how this sounds.

It would be nice to have some feedback from ppl who actualy GOT their Amigas from Petro. You know ... "Oh my GOD, it finally arrived ! Look at the pictures !" or something like that. Will watch this thread carefully to see how this story unfolds.
