Amiga Reloaded
« on: September 04, 2018, 04:48:52 PM »
The new A1200 reloaded (correct name?) was announce a couple of years ago I believe. Anyone heard through the grapevine something on this or have subsequent Amiga developments usurped this?

I wouldn't ask Jens directly because I assume it will be guarded info if and when his company does anything.
Would be nice to have.

With the development speed of hobby hardware developers the Reloaded could become obsolute.

Probably not, because all the hobby developers offer their replacement mainboards unpopulated.  It doesn't seem like a lot of people are capable of doing all the SMD soldering (I am about 1/2 finished mine -- all done with the rice grain stuff, thank goodness!).  So, for those who can't solder, but, want original hardware (meaning, hw that uses the real chips instead of FPGA copies) this would be highly desirable.

350?  Sign me up... the Alice 4000+ PCB cost me 100 Euro.  The custom chips cost me over 100 Euro.  The Video DAC and a couple of other components from Hese cost another 25 Euro,  the SIMM sockets cost 16 Euros,  all the passive components cost me nearly $200 USD from Mouser.  And this is all not including shipping (most of it international -- read as "EXPENSIVE").  Couple that with the amount of time I am spending building it, 350 euro is a bargain.

Where it gets hairy is that you'll have to provide an accelerator card, so, plunk down another $300 with Jens for an 030....so, hopefully, you have one already, since it doesn't have a CPU on board.

I already bought an ACA1233n / 40MHz over a year ago for the Reloaded. Can't wait to use it!
I agree, "Take My Money" Jens
I've been waiting for this board since it was announced.

If you go to Individual Computers page they have a bunch of amiga chips for sale that weren’t there before.
Could this be a sell off of chips Jens acquired a while back when he was going ahead with A1200 project?

Well Mr Wright, I was hoping you were wrong. But sure enough, those are 391010-01 / 8374 Alice chips. And they're NOS. Chances are Jens wouldn't be selling those before he allocated them for the Reloaded project. So it looks like I'm wrong and you're Wright. Damn!

He will NOT sell you an alice unless you buy the entire chipset for the 4000 or 1200.    He is only now selling them because of all the community driven projects (ReAmiga 1200, A4000 replicas) have appeared, and people are willing to spend money to get the chips to build their own.  He is (according to him) still going to make the Reloaded...but he still hasn't designed the board.

If he still hasn’t designed the board he never will.
He announced this with fervor at a show possibly a couple of years ago.
Do you really believe this is still in the cards?

Well those are customchips and suitable for the Reloaded, why would he sell these. Some guessing: he has thousands lying around or maybe he finally has made replacementships from the the experience of the Indivision scandoublers and research from his own clone-A project.
