@KThunder

Thanks. Found the options.. but why where they hidden until you needed to save a file?? I never would have thought of looking there or doing it that way in the first place.

the basic accessories microsoft included with windows were never intended to be serious work type stuff.

you can use them for quick stuff or if you know the tricks...

i use wordpad for most of my writing too :-D

if microsoft included a complete suite of full featured programs free with the os we would say they were driving our all the other software companies.

Some great info here!

Ok. I'm gonna use both ModPlug and Audacity or Quick Record - I need to transfer some old music modules that only exist on audio tape. Better blow the dust off first... :-)

@ Anthromatic

I actually still use Sound Recorder to trim some of my WAVE files captured with Quick Record as it has the two options:-

Delete Before Current Position

and

Delete After Current Position

My 'Wave Options' in Quick Record are:-

Sampling rate: 44100
Channels: Stereo
Bits per sample: 16

Oh... To convert my WAVE files to MP3 I've been using a program called CDex.

Good luck mate :pint:

@A4000_Mad

That's useful to know - I'll need to clean up the sample's start and finish. No doubt there will be unwanted noise and the like, just to ruin all my hard work!!

Thanks for your advice.

audacity is good for recording and manipulation. when i want to change my mods to mp3s, i either load up winamp (what with it's built in mod support) and usethe diskwriter output to change each one into an mp3. alternative method is installing that windows codec pack that allows direct show players to play mod, xm etc files. then all i do is fire up windows media player and then just convert it.

You'll like the options in SPS:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320170960114

SPS was built to help me use all Amiga/Atari/PC files all in one software.  You can specify the exact samples you want to delete and will let you flip sign bits for converting amiga raw data files into WAV files.  I don't use MP3s since it's hard to tell what you're losing when you compress it.  Also, SPS will let you playback the files on Amiga/Atari via the cable and MPDOS available at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320170468574
(for Atari)
and

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320170552951

However, you don't need either of the cables in order to use the software on the PC for editing and lossless compression.  And I can email you the software so you won't have to wait for shipping.
