IDEFix and registration... where?
« on: November 03, 2021, 12:14:38 AM »
Hi,

Am trying to convert an Amiga to using CF cards instead of HD's.   I need to run IDEFix to remove the errors I keep running into.   Except the registration info is no longer valid.  Someone else said to check Vesalia Online's website..  And while they have a page for it, there is no link or other information for registering it there either.

Anyone have any idea because apparently this is a must use driver from what I am finding out for running CF cards etc.

Take it light...... :-D

IDEFix is not necessary to use CF cards, but keys can be found with a little Googling and the Wayback Machine.

Well, I keep having read errors from the CF cards, which are brand new. I have two plugged in, both found ok and format fine.. But as I use things, they develop fake read errors that clear after a reboot..  I was told IDEFix is how to resolve those.

How big are the CF cards? Are you trying to use both at the same time?

It's only really necessary if you want to connect a CD-ROM or a 4X connection adapter.

I suspect you are trying to use older Kickstart (3 or 3.1) with a big CF card.

EDIT: The shareware release is functional, so if that does not sort your issue, registation won't fix it either.

The opposite is true. With IDEfix the CF card won't be recognized at all unless you install an unofficial patch.

Need more info:

1. What version of KS Roms are you running 3.0/3.1/3.2 etc?
2.What file system are you using - FFS,SFS,PFS and what version?

I have a SD card hooked up to my 3000T via SCSI2SD v5.2. Am running OS3.2 with 3.2 ROMs and using PFSAIO. Haven't had any issues with it.

I did run a CF card in my A4000D when it was working with 3.1 Roms, IDE Fix and Smart File System. Was tricky to set up had to fiddle with settings in HDToolBox (OS3.9 BB2). I did get it to work but was prone to getting corrupted after a while.

Best.

Lots or variables here. It could be the brand of CF card (some work better than others). It could be the adapter. It could be the classic MaxTransfer problem. It could be the filesystem. It could be the IDE controller. It could be a combination of any of the above.

Hello,

There is no way, we are not the owners of this software package.

It is higly unlikely that IDEFix will solve your problems.
But, you still haven’t said anything about what hardware or OS version you have problems with, so it’s not possible to give any good answer.

Wrong company. Vesalia is a shop, they never made software, they only act as a reseller.

You can find Elaborate Bytes now there: https://www.elby.ch/
I don't know if Oliver Kastl is still part of this company, though.
