The Child Murderer isn't nearly as bad as the name implies... I should know, as I am the fellow who actually wrote the game. Glad some folks still remember it. As for the 'gruesome' factor, I would consider one of my ancient titles, 'Inner Demons' worse... in a good way -- I consider it a better game than Child Murderer.
As for the title itself... yeah, it probably wasn't the wisest choice, but it was meant on purpose to attract attention. I had a very small publisher interested in selling it ages ago, and thought perhaps an oddball title would help sales. In the end it didn't really matter, as they went out of business relatively quickly, and before they even had a chance to do anything with the game (and even if they had, they told me they wanted to change the title anyway -- distributors are rather picky regarding such things).
There is a Windows version of the game available online, with the shorter and more acceptable title of The Murderer. Not a work of art, but if you have slightly morbid tastes and like adventure games, you might want to try it out.
My website has further info:
http://www.freewebs.com/nameless/As for the amiga versions, I have stumbled across it upon various emulator sites. I think Back to the Roots has it.
By the way, do you recall the name of the magazine and issue that reviewed the game? I did collect one or two reviews of my other Amiga games, but I never ran across a review of CM. If anyone out there remembers what magazine it was reviewed it, I'd appreciate further info. If they also happen to know where I could purchase this issue, it'd be great.
Thanks,
Michael
