Amiga Classics to other platforms (XBLA/PS3)
« on: February 14, 2010, 09:48:19 PM »
Hello,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. I recently bought Team 17's Alien Breed Evolution for XBLA and it's pretty cool (new better graphics)! What other classics from the Amiga or other platforms are available as downloads on the modern consoles like the PS3 or Xbox 360. Supercars, Supercars II, Stunt Car, ect?  Other than that what are the best downloadable games in your opinion? I am new to the PS3 and the 360.

Thanks,
Jeff

I thought apart from the fancy graphics in the unreal engine that the alien breed game on 360 was pretty lame to be honest.

I did too.

I was disapointed that it turned out so poor as i am a big fan.

Where was the musical score i was expecting?

I better prefer if they just re-released the original with improved graphics.

There is Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies on the playstation 3 and PSP and I still consider both games the best pinball games ever!

Problem with gaming these days is that the market expects everything to be in 3D, even games that should be in 2D are put in 3D because not that it would be a better game, but that is what the market expects.....which can downgrade the game play experience.

I'd love to see Superfrog on the Xbox but probably will never happen.

Also speed ball 2 has been removed from xbox live due to the company going bankrupt who had the rights to the game unfortunately.

Outside of Europe Amiga games don't have much traction as it was never a big mass market games machine in the US. If was a niche gaming computer for a wile at stores like Software ETC for a while but the Nintendo 8/16bit and Consoles were favored over Amigas. Mostly hardcore folks used it for gaming here.

It was funny ...the retail clerks always bashed the system and the games yet from 1986-1992 they regularly stocked hardware and software, I'd meet lots of folks, and they loved the system. The moment PC's surpassed the Amiga they started a closeout. In a florida mall I picked up every Amiga game I wanted for $5-20 each.

So XBOX live PS3 conversions are more nostalgic. I really do like the new Super Stardust. But if I could get all those Amiga classics on a TV game device I'd purchase it. On an Iphone or PSP it works.
