What does ZEN look like?  I googled around, but couldn't find anything.

I've debated buying a copy of AmigaOS 4.1 Classic and running it on FS-UAE, but at this point I'm holding out for an A1222.  Which brings this thread back on topic. :)

If you're curious and want to "preview" 4.1, it's very cheap to buy and try it under emulation before you decide whether it's worth buying actual hardware for. I'm running it in WinUAE, and it's surprisingly capable, especially with the UAE display driver. Not enough RAM and speed for heavy websites and apps, and no 3D acceleration of course, but you get a good "feel" for it.

Still a bit interested in the A1222, though my interest is kind of dropping off the longer it takes.

My interest in the A1222 is kind of morbid -- I think it might be the last Amiga, and I don't want to miss out on that, having been there at the beginning.  It sort of bookends everything.

Even so, I'm hoping for a successful jump to another architecture and a continuance of Amiga. I am aware of the enormous legal and technical obstacles that make this unlikely, but ... never give up! :)

At this point, the last introduction would appear to be the P5040 variant of the X5000, IF that gets produced.
But I too am gearing up toward the idea of one final PPC system (in this case either a P5020 or P5040 based X5000), running under MorphOS primarily, although I will install OS4.1.

These systems should last us awhile, as older Eyetech AmigaOnes and bPlan Pegasos 1 & 2 models are still in use.

Video drivers and other support should improve in the future, and hopefully we can concentrate on application software for awhile.

Aeon has stated it has plans for the future, the MorphOS team has announced an eventual shift to X64 that will take quite awhile, so for now we've reached a high point in our development similar to that which occurred when the original AmigaOne and Pegasos systems were released.

We have multi-core systems that could allow for future development, modern expansion slots to support newer video cards and accessories, and while we could use better USB support for USB 3.0, that's not too shabby.

This is starting to sound like a broken record, but does anyone know anything new about when the A1222 will release? It was announced over 2 years ago in late 2015... Can we expect it during the first half of 2018?

Windows 10 theme reminds me of windows 3.1. Cut down eye candy but windows still seems to be able to run like a dog with threee legs at times. Going through the various settings screen causes the spinning wheel.

Nooooooooooooooooow hurry up with the A1222 before I really do loose interest like many of are starting to feel now.

It'll be when it'll be. They can't afford to launch it with a crippled FPU emulator! In the meantime when is the A.L.I.C.E. laptop available in Europe?

@Thread

If the community can't even launch an off the shelf laptop with tweaked emulation software within a year of the announcement then what hope do we have of A1222 release this year?

It looks like they will ship the A.L.I.C.E. internationally for $98! It  would be better if there was local support and distribution from  AmigaKit though!

What's an Intel laptop doing in this discussion? I feel like I've missed something.

And who hosts on Windows in 2018? :P

Because it's a product that allows you to use OS 3.1 (Amikit version) / OS 4.1 (Classic version) / Linux seemlessly on a laptop straight out of box and it is available now if imported from America! Commodore sold their inhouse LCD development division so this is a close as we've ever got to an Amiga laptop! That's why. The Tabor/A1222 is still unreleased without a release date with a problematic FPU at this point. Forgive me for getting excited about a product I can actually buy!

Doesn't just seem to be the FPU, I remember reading they hadn't gotten the Ethernet up and running either. The X5000 doesn't have working Ethernet either AFAIK, but at least there's room for a separate PCI-E NIC in there.

Well MoprhOS 3.10 didn't have an announcement by a commercial company 2 years and 3 months ago...Giving the impression that it would be available "soon". Announcing something that long before it becomes available is just lunacy from a business perspective.

if all these Aeon boards are so called made for OS4 why does it take so long to write the dam drivers for them. Why not pick network chips that we already have working drivers. Same goes for sound. I get the feeling these boards are not just made for Amiga OS4. yes I am loosing hope now
