locate kickstarts.lha for whdload ?
« on: June 23, 2014, 01:12:57 AM »
I own AmigaForever.
I followed the tutorial  about setting up Classic WB on a CF Card  for a A1200:
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd42RsKHm5Y&noredirect=1

The only question I have : The author talks about copying kickstarts.lha ,  which contains things like kick33180.a500 and kick33180.a500.rtb into the devs\kickstarts folder .

I also read about these files here : http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=38299

I was able to load a few games in igames so why do I need these files?
If  I need them , then  where do I legally  download or purchase these files ?
 Thanks, Peter

Read this thread http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=30079

It explains how and where to put your kickstart images. As for legally purchasing. Then I believe Cloanto is the legal owner and as such you will get them within their Amiga forever pack. I also believe they have a cheaper essentials pack on android for running emu stuff.

Legally, you will need to copy the kickstarts from real Amigas or purchase them like CritAnime suggests.

I describe it on this page:
http://www.aros-platform.de/html/howto.html

it is for Aros Vision but it should be the same on your configuration

Thanks for the info.

Are some games, in whdload, going to fail to load because I don't have the right kickstart files , right ?

Can  I just copy various .rom files from  AmigaForever  \Amiga Files\Shared\rom to  devs\kickstarts folder  ? What do I rename ?  Do I need   .rtb files ?

Thanks, Peter

I cannot remember everything. If I remember right you must only copy the devs and C directories from the whdload installation. Then you have to copy the roms and the key file from amigaforever in devs/kickstarts (is included in the whdload installation) and rename them like on the page (left original name in name on the right).
