Lotharek Slim Floppy Emulator questions
« on: January 14, 2014, 01:13:59 AM »
Finally decided to get one of these, but am having a tough time trying to figure out how to use it!

When you create a brand new Amiga floppy image, there are no options like in AmigaDOS? Trashcan, FFS, etc.

-edit-

Found a different manual online and now I have disk images loading from the SD card. This thing is going to be sweet once I get it all installed. Have a nice A1010 drive case I'll be mounting it in.  :)

BTW: is the red LED on the board supposed to flicker, even when nothing is being read from the SD card? Guess I'm talking about when it's in the Floppy Emulator Manager mode...

Save2600, if you have answers can you post them here... been thinking of getting one of these. Also, links to manuals would be helpful.

The process of loading an image from a PC onto the card is a huge problem each time you want to add files.  The support by the maker is quite lacking.  Once I figured out how long it took to set up and use, I realized that I had made an error in purchasing this item and sold both.

Yeah, so far, the product does not work exactly as I had imagined. After a lot of trial and error getting most everything else going, biggest problem I have now is getting Disk A and Disk B to coexist. Looks like this device needs to be configured as DF0: and reside internally in an Amiga for Disk B to show simultaneously with Disk A?

Unless of course, this is a feature that is not yet really implemented, despite being talked about in the manual.

Okay, got this thing mounted and she looks alright! Removed the obnoxiously bright LED that everyone seems to like to work with today and soldered in the original A1010's front mounted LED. This little project turned out pretty nice...

Sill can't get Disk B to play nice, but it does work if I disable Disk A via the dipswitches. Still thinking it must reside as DF0: internally, but am not entirely sure. Reading up on others' experiences, looks like Disk A and Disk B are NOT to be used simultaneously, not without some more hardware modification anyway. No clear and concise pointers on just how to do that yet though. So for now, looks like this product works as a single drive floppy emulation of sorts. At least there are 15 slots you can add disk images to. Just be prepared to count the beeps and remember what you've placed where.

May end up selling or trading this for boxed games on my want list, so if you're stateside and interested, LMK!

Sure it does the 2 floppy emulation in the same time.
Just don't forget that the DF0 Is not wired to the external port on A500/A600/A1200.
So you have to use a boot selector circuit.

When the emulator is set internally just use ID0-A (1) & ID1-B (6) switch setting to emulate DF0 & DF1.

BTW the support forum address is : http://torlus.com/floppy/forum/

Well, thank the Lord you found a way of putting disk images on the SD card without using  Windows or MacOSX machine!

You forgot the Amiga machines:
