Most original disks cannot be backupped without using additional hardware.
In the old days there was Cyclone (from the makers of X-Copy) which could backup most disks.
This program also had a piece of hardware which was put between the floppy-port and the external disk drive.
For more modern solutions there is the
SuperCard Pro from Jim Drew and the
Kryoflux from the creators of X-Copy.
