Battle of the home computers
« on: April 10, 2003, 03:36:20 AM »
Seems Micromart in the Uk are down to the finalists in the search for the best computer ever :)

IT'S THE FINAL!

After several months, our competition to find the best home computer of
all time finally draws to a close. And it's a straight showdown between
two of the favourites, the Spectrum and the Amiga.

You'll find the
arguments either way in this week's edition of the magazine, and the
voting is open now, and will stay open for two weeks. Then, the winner
will be declared! To vote, head over to our forum at
www.micromart.co.uk/forum and duck into the Retro Computer Mart section.
Alternatively, you can vote by e-mail. Send your Spectrum votes to comp@micromart.co.uk?Subject=VoteSpectrum, and your Amiga votes to
comp@micromart.co.uk?Subject=VoteAmiga. Remember, you can only vote
once, and the poll closes on 23rd April.

What's the subject I need to use if I want to vote for the C-64?

(no, I'm not going to register into their forums)

@Jope

You cannot vote for the C64, it's been knocked out in an earlier round.

As it said on the post:

OMG!!!

How could I choose between the Spectrum and the Amiga???

The first computer I ever had was a Spectrum 48k, then we got a 128k+2.  I have been using Spectrums since about 1985 until just after their death in the mid-90s.  I still have my Spectrums (except the 48k :-( ) and all the games (over 400 I think).  They gave me great hours of fun!

I've now moved onto the Amiga (after a brief stint as a PC user :-o )  I got my first Amiga in 1997, an A1200.  I've been using it ever since.  I love my Miggy, I've spent over £600 on it (and I *still* don't have a PPC or graphix card).

How could I choose????

It's no contest Vince ;-)

I came from the 8 bit school that was the C-64 and had many many years of fun with it, but i still know what i'd vote for if it was those 2 head to head.

Don't let my post influence your vote, ahmm ;-)

Well, at this point in time I've decided not to vote.  I just can't choose yet.

Because the closing date is the 23rd, I might be able to make a descision, but I doubt it.

I never had an Spectrum, a friend of mine did, and I agree it was a lot of fun. Nevertheless, I voted for the Amiga.
