What Simm types can I use for CyberStorm 060 MKIII? Will, any type work, EDO etc?
-
I have the MKII and I use 4 16MB EDO's at the moment...
Non EDO isn't a problem too :-)
-
Thanks, I guessed as much. Now I just have to saw up my drivebay to make room in my A3000D, should be fun, never sawed an Amiga before.
-
Sawing! Cool.
Just look at the radical operation (http://www.iki.fi/sintonen/towerscan/P20.JPG) I did once.
Yes, the machine is still working ok. ;-)
Oh why do I feel like Dr. Frankenstein...
-
Wow Piru, that looks pretty nasty! lol
-
Just thought I'd add that the largest SIMMs you can use are 32Mb, 64Mb don't work even if you only have two of them.

Yeah, I've ordered 2x32mb EDO. Amazingly enough there turned out to be Norwegian dealers who still had SIMMs like this in stock.
-
The better solution is to use upto four 32Mb EDO 60ns simms of the same brand/model.
Sometimes mixing brands/sizes/models can results in instabilities or nonworking CyberStorm at all :-(

I'll keep that in mind if/when I get 2 more of them. But that must wait as 2 of these cost the same as 10 pints of beer (in this country anyway), as I often compare prices with ;-)
-
Btw, will double sided work?
-
You can download the manual from DCE
http://www.dcecom.de/downloads.html
Best to check before doing any upgrades.

It [the manual] says: "The CYBERSTORM MKIII will accept pairs of industry standard 32-bit SIMMs". It also says that I can use both parity and non-parity. However, it doesn't mention double/single-sided. Anyone who has tried double sided?
-
Ok, I found out. For whoever may be interested: The Cyberstorm MKIII can take double sided SIMMs. Case closed.
