Title: SnoopDOS Equivalent for Windows?
Post by: jd997uk on May 30, 2003, 12:06:40 PM
Is their such a beast?
I've a weird memory leak/drain in W2k and would like to sort out where the problem is.
If I open Task Manager, Mixer.exe is consuming a huge amount of RAM, and is increasing all the time. This will continue until the machine complains and then increases VM. The only way to stop it is to reboot (huh, go figure). The weird thing is I had nothing running at the time. Every known program was turned off and it still was the same. I'm trying to figure out what is causing the leak and I can then either bin that app, or try re-installing.

Any ideas?

Gah!! I hate answering my own questions. A quick Google search reveals on the SnoopDOS website (DOH!) this (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml) and this (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml).

Although, if anyone knows of anything better.........
