I can KIND OF understand a brand spanking new Quickpack built A4000T for this price.... actually wait up a sec... no I can't... WTF?

I can hear the logic of the seller before posting this...
"Well If the new X1000 is going to cost $1000 or more then my new condition A4000 is definatley worth $1300..."

I can also hear a hypothetical conversation at A-eon company meeting:"

"Hey guys if like new A4000 Desktops are are going for $1300 on ebay we should really charge more for the first new Amiga in years....$2000 is fair considering what Amiga collectors are willing to pay for vintage hardware."

Its must be the seller and a mate pushing the price up against each other trying to catch a sucker at the last minute or theres another amiga4000 somewhere so they are pushing the price out of range using dummy accounts.

No ones that stupid ;)
was Enterprise Vault (Its an Exchange Fail!), now its EMC Avamar, Dedupe for mostly everything including brain cells.

That would be a clear violation resulting in the seller losing his account, so I doubt it.  Never underestimate how crazy some people are.  Is the high bidder on this board????

That's completely and utterly bonkers. I'd pay that much, if it was a commodore made 4000T, along with a video toaster and flyer, the fastest ppc and 060 card, best rtg card, commodore monitor, big fat sony trinitron, as much ram as possible, copies of every workbench from 3.0 to 4, a dvd burner, big hard disk. if it was new in box, and only if it was all new in box. I looked at the bid history, it's definately the same two guys driving the price up. they make me sick.
A1200 Computer Combat. OS3.0. No accelerator, no fastram, mouse soon. And ebaying it.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Look at the number of bidders with few bid history. I bet this is a price drive to see if they can net a sucker.
I think, Therefore - Amiga....

It baffles me how people can pay stupid money for obsolete hardware that could fail at any moment and requires any number of patches and add-ons to use in some cases.
Dont get me wrong, Id love to be on the recieving of that amount of money for what is essentially a bog standard A4000 but theres no way its worth a fraction of that.
Its just shame people have become so used to stupidly high prices that standard A4000s go for almost £200 in some cases (as in recent listings seen on eBay UK), they shouldnt be going for more than £100 but unfortunately people go mental and bid stupid money and inflate the value.
I remember when I used to buy Dreamcast games when I was building up my collection, it amazed me how people would bid on Shenmue 2 like it was the only copy around and it would regularly go for around £30 when there were literally tens of copies on eBay, why bid so high and bump up the price???:confused:

Yes, I'm done with A4000Ds even though I'd love to own one. I've gone through 2 desktops and one towerized desktop. They work when I get them and a few months later - pow they don't boot. I guess one completely restored with new capacitors everywhere including on the accelerator, no battery leakage and replaced ram slots with metal hold downs would be worth a bundle.

However, one that just looks clean with no mention of the above restoration should not be going for that much. I know people are nuts but that looks to be over the top.
