p.s. OrkinLand isn't out yet, but I'm thinking of making it, and these girls all have great confidence that it'll be their favorite game ever.

I had a girlfriend in the 90s who used to love two games: Dr Mario on the NES and Battlemorph on the Atari Jaguar. She played Tempest 2000 with me a bit, but I think Battlemorph was more her thing.
