Introducing the new AresOne
« on: July 13, 2010, 11:11:16 PM »
News from phoenixkonsole via amigaworld.net

Some time has passed and I thought about broadening the Amiga market.....
on my Agenda is:

A new scalable AresOne (from dual-core to 6-core) as AROS workstation (especial AudioEvolution

AMC as you know already

App-browser (for MOS/AmigaOS and AROS) -> merge all three small markets to one less small (the ground to attract "new" developers) and more but still secret

The new AresOne is smaller faster... not a workhorse but a work pony.
It has still enough room for a optional Catweazel and a Wifi Card.
The base-system comes with an ATI HD4200 (HDMI/DVI,VGA)
You may ask: "huhh? ATI not Nvidia?? yeahh stay tuned BUT it supports also hybrid crossfireX and you could add any PCIe card you like.
It supports up to 16GB DDR2 1066 but also up to 8GB DDR2 1200(O.C)
More in the video and even more on the show at the Amiga Event 2010 in Essen.
6x USB (external) 6x internal..... this makes opens the door to Touchscreen and Remote support for a perfect MediaCenter solution.

With the HDMI output it is ideally for AMC which comes bundled with it.

Other bundled software:

A-liveX (FryingPan key, latest Cinnamon Writer)

Broadway / IcAROS (which is part of A-liveX-physical disc pack)

This time you will be able to choose...... i hope you find a configuration which fits your needs.

You have to try it.... whoever can visit us in Essen.

Just as Info about the Ares Project..... i started it to support AROS.... all profits i gain go back to AROS funding and more projects.... yeeeaaahh ok ok a little bit will be used to minimize the personal loss

The Introduction video: Youtube

Regarding the song: I liked the game and "gods" theme fits to Ares

Well, but you can just boot up in Win/Linux (with WINE(Helper)) or wait until FishyFis uploaded Bochs for AROS(don't know how the performance is).

But you could use Lightwave, ArtEffect, AudioEvolution, Pagestream, Aladin4d, Cinema4d, Lodepaint, Protrekkr, Lunapaint and more......

Is this a serious question?

No, halvliter'n is one of a recent influx of failtrolls.

I look forward to watching him getting banned again real soon.

Hahaha. You're so funny. Ever considered stand up comedy ?
AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they\\\'d go faster. --D.Haynie

I think the two key benefits are that all profits go back into AROS development, and all the hardware supplied is tested and therefore guaranteed to work with AROS out of the box... no fiddling :)

If you don't mind fiddling around a bit, then you could just build or buy your own PC.

If you buy one of those Meridian brand PC's from Asda, you genuinely deserve all the hassle you get.

Think eMachines or Compaq or HP in terms of build quality.

You would have to go a long way to try to out shite any of those.

As to a more general statement of "why this and not X brand"... That is a good question. I guess that'd come down ultimately to price/performance/style/support.

If you have a builder who is going out from the beginning to support smaller less used OS's than windows, paying a small premium over a larger manufacturer might be worth it if the support is there.

It'll be interesting to see how they progress.
Blessed Be,

good question, good answers (i hope):
1. This thing is fully supported
2. I started the Ares Project to have a nice, fully supported system for gaining some money to support AROS development. I officially give 25% of profit back to AROS BUT to be honest i invest still more than i get + my spare time.
3. I started to make my own AROS distribution called Broadway to offer the OS and the HW from one source.... this makes it easier to update the OS to support new drivers and some coming exclusive(temporary exclusive )stuff.
4. You get bundled apps substituted with the Hardware (AMC, A-liveX)
AROS is installed already, Dualboot/Multiboot is possible(no hassle for the customer)
5. You save time.
6. You support something which will boost AROS development...
7. Amiga Forever OEM
8. more things but just stay tuned.

.

Thats the problem is that the bear market that is the bottom end desktop market....even the Dell and HP are at that price point, only the stupid people buy the star buy Medions, usually round the corner will be a boxed Dell or HP at the same price.

Thanks...much appreciated,  but I must admit I struggle to see a business for ready to go boxes in a Geek market, all the best with your venture and if it raises the profile and cash flow of AROS at the same time, more the merrier.

Hmm if i had time i would do it completely alone but i have great support by http://www.vesalia.de ....
And i do it as compensation to my stressed live..... it make fun and that is enough. Got many nice comments and i hope some people have fun that's good. I have a good and interesting fulltime job - so i can live without much earnings through AROS for now.

BUT he he he now comes AMC and i will promote it outside our Amiga-World..... i have BroadwayCE (minininininininimum AROS without some parts of AROS(license) - could be the ideal solution for Setup-Boxes and Multimedia-stands/Displays) who knows maybe Fabio gets a fulltime job and Aros some big bucks : )

I will make a MediaCenter-solution called "Ark" with tube-amp and Speakers..... costs a bit more, many things are handmade.

Is this a serious question?

Is not that a relevant question, it's just a regular WinPC in some people's eyes.
