for an office package, I recommend EVERYONE check out gobe productive its a cheap ($50) alternative to MSOffice and its well worth it.

There doesn't appear to be an evaluation version available.  How is anyone supposed to know for sure it does what they need it to do?

I want to test it first!  I don't know of many people just willing to give over 50 dollars/pounds without knowing what they're buying A: works and B: suits their needs.  Except possibly Amiga Inc coupons :-)

There's also a port of the musicprogram SuperJam, it's a 'band-in-a-box'-like program.  It was bought by MS (just like Bars&Pipes). I haven't use it on a PC, because it works fine on my Amiga
(by the way it's complete freeware, just as B&P)

Cheers Tom

Well if people like to spend money to help a cause it's their problem, isn't it!? I don't see much of them nagging, just the others who haven't and wouln't give them one pence anyway...

It's not because you have a point that you have to state it all over again, and again... it already been said...

TvPaint now lives as Aura DV Paint, well at least some of the interface/ gui/ tools are exactly the same. Both programs are exellent IMO. :-)

Actually it was TVPaint for the PC at first, then it became Aura when Newtek began selling it, and now is Aura when Newtek bundles, but the new standalone version (and worth all $275 for the upgrade) is MIRAGE.    I kid that 50% of the software venders at NAB used to be Amiga companies, but its pretty much true.   The people that wrote Montage, now write 2 different PC programs (the team split up).  The folks that brought us the great paint program Opalpaint,  have a very nice PC paint program that I cant think of at the moment.  All the old Play people who did Trinity did Brilliance, and DCTVpaint, and one of the Toaster CG programs.   Someone made a comment about Elastic Reality.  They sold lock stock and barrel to AVID, who has incorporated there software into their editor.

Hi  Tigger,

Please forgive me but I'm a little confused.

Was it TVPaint for Amiga, then TVPaint for PC, then Aura for PC ? or was it TVPaint for PC, then TVPaint for Amiga, then Aura for PC ?

All I know is that when I got myself Aura DV for my PC , I thought, Hey... wait a minute, this looks just like the TVPaint program that I've got on my Amiga !

I'm sorry, I can see how what I said could confuse.

It was TVPaint for the Amiga
then
TVPaint for the PC/Alpha
then
Aura for PC/Alpha
and now its
Mirage for the PC/Mac

Though Newtek wil contine to ship Aura 2.5 with VT[3] and have the right to enhance it.

Hi Tigger,

Thanks for clearing that up, it's interesting to see the progression of the software from platform to platform and also how all the former Amiga software company's survived the hard times. Now, if we can just get them to come back and write some new stuff for the new Amiga systems.  :-)

(Octa)MED and Deliplayer/Tracker mentioned earlier.

Neither would exist without Sound/Pro/NoiseTracker

Soundtracker(.org) on linux,
Fast/Scream/ImpulseTracker on DOS,
all the way upto software as such
MAGIX music maker on Windows.
MODlug Tracker, WinAMP, XMPlay, the list goes on.
