Pretty spiffy! Don't suppose this means the advent of compositing window management on AROS?
-
Nope it means Jason is working on mesa and gallium for classics :)
Edit: Forgot to mention this should also put the Geforce 5200 PCI + Mediator I sent him to use eventually. :)
-
Classics as in Amithlon too?

WoOt!?

You'll notice in the background the gallium.hidd and softpipe.hidd he's messing with. So once PCI is properly supported yep we should see nouveau support coming. :)

Pretty cool, will this PCI stuff be open source too?

All part of AROS ;)

Very exciting, this could give us another 20 years with our trusty Amiga's.
-
Can someone please explain the significance of this to me? I don't really understand-it's a 3d API? Are classics capable of much in the way of 3d?
-
Nice.
What pci system is it using? Openpci would be lovely, and makes the most sense, but if I recall AROS uses prometheus? Is anything changing here for 68k?
-
the demo reall doesnt show it since its not gl based, but mesa is confirmed working. more to come i think.
as for pci there is a discussion but no consensus as to how it has to be done. openpci has been rejected as far as i understand, prometheus is an option. i dont know how this is going to be handled yet. nevertheless jason should have working mediator machine soon, so we will not wait long i bet.
-
Shame. No amithlon support then for hardware rendering and software rendering we (amithlon) already have.
I was hoping this'd bring something new for me.
Oh well, nice for those with supported hardware. I assume it'll just be one pci expansion then?

@Paulie85
To over simplify things, gallium is the at the driver level and mesa is the software/api level (basically an opengl implementation).

he had no working cpu module and motherboard, but i filled in the gap already. he should have it soon.

currently its all in software, whether for amithlor or 68k amigas, what concerns amithlon i dont know how pci support is done within the os. is it based on openpci? i proposed it on the dev list as possibility to have one cross platform pci support system but it was generally rejected as aros has pci.hidd already and openpci is "too ugly". you might open a discussion on aros exec, since nothing has been decided as yet, for what i know. i think it is an important subject.

Not yet. you know how international shipping is. :(
-
So Classic users will have a more modern graphics implementation than OS4 users?
:)
