I have not thought about this software in a long time. Back in the day, if you were into the scene you were using jrcomm and an HST modem (configured with MAAD Modem)  to do your high speed transfers.

One of the best things my friends and I came up with was a hacked version of ZModem that we used with jrcomm. We compiled our own version of ZModem to say the transmission was incomplete on the last bit which wasn't needed as it was just an acknowledgement. So we got the file which worked great but the bbs thought the transfer didn't go through. This worked with boards that used credits.
